Vancouver police are asking for the public's help finding a woman they say went missing two weeks ago under suspicious circumstances.

Police say 37-year-old Su Yi Liang was reported missing on Jan. 10 after failing to pick up her children at school. Her vehicle, a grey BMW i3, was found near the Rupert Park Pitch and Putt the next day.

In a release, Const. Jason Doucette said police are treating Liang's disappearance as a missing persons case, but evidence collected suggests they may not find her alive.

"We are asking anyone who may have had contact with her, or who has information about her activities leading up to Jan. 10 to contact our detectives," Doucette said in the release.

Police say Liang is Asian, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 120 pounds. She has black, shoulder-length hair and wears glasses.

The investigation is being handled by the Vancouver Police Department's major crime section. Police say they do no believe the public is at risk.

Was that evidence collected something they found inside the car?

The wording on the article is puzzling; I don't know if they are suspecting foul play or suicide given that the police forces are saying they do not believe the public is at risk.

Police divers and officers were searching the shoreline at New Brighton Park on Wednesday
Posted: Feb 21, 2018 4:38 PM PT Last Updated: Feb 21, 2018 4:38 PM PT

Investigators now believe Liang went missing on the morning of Jan. 8, and they have surveillance footage of her car being driven near New Brighton Park early that afternoon.

"It's being driven by someone other than Ms. Liang, and we would like to find out who was driving it at the time," said Const. Jason Doucette.
Liang's car was located at Rupert Park Pitch and Putt in East Vancouver on Jan. 11. It's described as a 2014 grey, electric, BMW i3.

Doucette is asking anyone who was around New Brighton Park just after noon on Jan. 8 to get in touch with police.

In an attempt to track her movement in the days before she disappeared, police have collected evidence that suggests her grey electric car was seen at New Brighton Park on Jan. 8.

They believe her vehicle was at the park just after noon, while Liang herself went missing before noon. Officers suspect someone else was behind the wheel when the vehicle was captured on traffic cameras that afternoon.
"It's important we speak with anyone who may have seen her electric car in the parking lot," Const. Jason Doucette said.
Anyone with information on Liang's whereabouts and her activities leading up to Jan. 8 is asked to contact police. Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen someone driving her i3 before it was found Jan. 11.

Tips can be left with the VPD's Major Crime section at 604-717-2500, or through Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Vancouver police and the RCMP's dive team are back at New Brighton Park this weekend for clues in the disappearance of Su Yi Liang, who vanished earlier this year.

The police's marine unit did a cursory search last week of the water off the park and have asked RCMP's dive team to conduct their own search using specialized training and equipment, said Const. Jason Doucette.
Police are focusing on New Brighton Park in east Vancouver, where surveillance footage captured Liang's grey BMW i3 in the parking lot on Jan. 8. They believe someone else was driving her car.

Is this her husband and children?
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/brit...rance-wins-back-custody-of-children-1.5896443

A man who has long been a suspect in his ex-partner's disappearance has regained custody of their two children after three years with no major movement in the Vancouver police investigation.

The children, then nine and 11, were placed in foster care after their father was detained and questioned in relation to their mother's disappearance three years ago. The Vancouver woman had vanished two weeks earlier.

They never reported anything about her children other than the fact that more than one existed. Three years fits, and the family court proceedings mentioned.
