I think LE should look at the family dynamics to understand if it's normal to have a child missing and not report it, I don't know maybe they just didn't cared, maybe it was usual that she had sleepovers at a friend house. But calling the school saying: can you send her home? ...uhm... kinda hinky, JMHO

Band councillor Elsie Flett said the girl's friends and other children in the community are shaken up.
"Our children…don't even feel safe in our community - traumatized,” she said.
Friends and family of Teresa marked what should have been her 12th birthday on Thursday.
Community volunteers continue to search for more remains and are coming together to help deal with the tragedy.

KW, 14, a young activist in Winnipeg, wants to give people in Winnipeg the chance to show their respect.


He says the vigil will take place at 5 p.m. CT at the Oodena Celebration Circle at The Forks in Winnipeg.


"We're going to light up candles. We're also going to let balloons go to celebrate her birthday and we're singing songs and having people talk."

Oh, From that statement the father made... Here is what I I go to out of it.

He, himself, didn't know she was missing.. Until she didn't come home from school that day - remember he was out of the community? So, maybe he returned, thought his lil girl was at school, then when she didn't come home, he called as asked them to send her home.

We don't know who Teresa was living with at the time of her disappearance. But her dad says when she didn't come home, she may have stayed over at a friend's place. So was he there that night or what? Who was there? If he wasn't there, who is he speaking for? Also the Grand Chief is speaking on behalf of her father so we don't have any direct quotes from the father. He must be devasted.

I think Dad wasn't even on the reserve, but was literally guessing of what when on while he was gone.

IMO : Dad has no clue, he tells us what "they" told him -
He called the school when she didn't show up that day - like normal parent would.. His baby didn't make it home. I assume he arrived back into the reserve THAT very day during school hours... Yet, no one told him his lil girl was missing - so simple, who knew that lil girl wasn't alive anymore to come home? Well that would be Mom and siblings for sure - why didn't they tell Dad as soon as he stepped off the plane? nope, they waited until school was over and let him find out himself... Why?

Given the size and remoteness of Garden Hill I suspect the suspect pool is quite small. Let's just hope people don't close ranks around the perp(s) in order to protect him/her/them as sometimes happens in small, closed communities.

This reminds me of Jenise Wright; she also freely roamed her community.

While I wasn't a free-range parent I kind of, sort of understand the thinking, at least when the family lives in such a small community. In that case parents are comfortable letting their kid come and go as they please, even at a young age. I suppose that would include spending time at friends' houses without telling their parents. I dunno, maybe it's a stretch; I'm trying to understand the timeline from that point of view and it's not easy.

But if the timeline was muddied on purpose then I know where I'd start my investigation.

I hope the killer(s) is caught soon. Everyone needs to keep an eye out for their babies if there is someone who would hurt a beautiful little girl like Teresa. JMO

Residents initially believed Teresa had been mauled by an animal, perhaps a bear. Partial remains were found in a wooded area on May 11

Mr. Harper noted that searchers found a pair of shoes Sunday that are believed to have belonged to Teresa. A bracelet was also recovered.


Mr. Harper said any items found are being turned over to the RCMP, which are investigating the young girl’s death.

Why are residents directly involved in the search? This should be an RCMP based search. What if the killer is the one finding the items and evidence?

Unfortunately the Bears in western Canada don't have enough food not sure about eastern Canada. But the case is very suspicious. I'm not sure about this reserve but some want permission before entering their land. On some there's a lot of abuse neglect and substance abuse. Unfortunately I've worked with kids from reserves and all they wanted was positive love and attention. So knowing what I've experienced its a very sad case. I don't mean to speak bad regarding them and there have been a lot of social improvements. And there's a lot of well functioning natives. But I'm suspicious she was more grown up than most 11 yr olds. Don't know if that helps.
