I guess the generational fingerprint is that the mother posts a comment on facebook instead of calling 911.

As per her comments, she was trying to call TB and had already called the RCMP when she posted on FB. It isn't like she was posting on FB without trying to contact the authorities. Nothing to do with a "generational footprint."
IMO.

Plugged-in multitasker footprint. It's amazing how quick kids are with their phones, and how much they can get done on them.

On my local news it said police were called (not sure why) and they went to the home and found the deceased. Could be bad reporting.

It has been reported that people heard the baby screaming at 3:30 am. I wonder if any of them called police. There was also a report that the baby never showed up at the babysitter the next morning and she called and wanted a welfare check? I thought I saw that posted upthread somewhere. But if she was supposed to be going back to her mom's why would she be expected at the sitters?

Hailey’s mother, Cheyenne Dunbar, said she wasn’t with her daughter when she disappeared.

“I don’t even know what’s going on myself,” Dunbar, who lives in Edmonton, said in a phone interview late Monday afternoon. “I just heard today.”

Breaking: Arrest made in connection with the Amber Alert case; toddler still missing

I find his an odd statement by the mother. If she was expecting Hailey on Sunday, would she not reach out to relatives/people to find out what was going on?

Anyone putting together a timeline? I'm beyond confused. Like, really confused. Please please please let this little one come home safe.

I would be interested to see the original source stating that she was expecting Hailey.

ETA: Answering my own query. It was the grandfather The same guy who sid Terry wasn't well-liked.
She was supposed to have been dropped off at her mother Cheyenne Dunbar’s Edmonton home Sunday, said the tot’s grandfather.

“She was supposed to show up yesterday, it was Terry’s turn to drop Hailey off,” Kevin Dunbar said Monday of the little girl's deceased father"

The perp could have been an invited guest of Terry; hence, no sign of break-in. Hailey may have known who the perp was so he took her when he left. Screams at 3:30 am more likely mean Hailey was woken up by the noise or by the perp.

The perp was located and arrested in a short period of time after the crime, which sounds like there was close to immediate evidence pointing to him.

i "like" a local news page on my fb and news comes up in my feed.

I'm just curious how the mother just happened to be browsing the internet and stumble across an article involving her daughter, that's all. Most teenagers I know aren't too interested in current events or reading the news.

Did she get this information in advance and then turn to Facebook afterwards ?

Blairmore, Alberta (September 15, 2015) - The RCMP has arrested a suspect in the homicide of Terry Blanchette, age 27, who was found dead in his Blairmore home yesterday morning. The male suspect, age 22, was arrested in Blairmore earlier today. He is a resident of that community. His name is not being released due to investigational considerations.

He is now in police custody for questioning in relation to the Blanchette homicide and the disappearance of Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, age 2, who was abducted from her father’s home at 3:30 a.m. yesterday morning. The investigation into the child’s whereabouts is ongoing. Police have located a white van in the Blairmore area and are in the process of determining if it is related to the incident under investigation. It is too soon for police to know if this is the van that was reportedly seen near the Blanchett home early Monday morning.

The Amber Alert issued in relation to Hailey’s disappearance is still in effect.

Wait, what? When was he arrested? I thought it was this afternoon (or possibly this morning)--a full day later. Is that considered a "short period of time?"

Okay, so he was arrested today (Tuesday). A full day later. Is that normally considered a short time? It just seems like a long time to me in a case like this. Just because of how time is of the essence. I guess it's a short time overall...

I'm really not surprised the suspect was arrested and lives in Blairmore. It makes me pretty sure the dad knew him. So maybe my thinking it was a long time before he was arrested is because Blairmore is SO small. There are lots of places to hide, but it doesn't sound to me like the suspect was hiding very well, if at all. It really sounds like he just went home.

I can't quite wrap my head around this. I am probably babbling.

I wonder if they are keeping the Amber Alert going because maybe he told them he handed her off to someone else. The Amber Alert isn't going to have much teeth though if LE already has the original van the abduction was carried out in.

Hopefully this guy was dumb enough to have a cell phone with him so maybe LE can track his movements that night by phone pings.

Mounties say they located a white van they believe left the scene of the crime where they found a dead Terry Blanchette, 27, early Monday in the Blairmore area while arresting the suspect, a resident of the town.

Hamori wouldn’t say what led to the arrest, but added police had been canvassing neighbourhoods and following up numerous tips.

Family members say Blanchette had split from Hailey’s mother, Cheyenne Dunbar, and had shared custody of the girl, who was to have been returned to her mom on Sunday after spending time with her dad.

When asked if police are looking into any possible links to Dunbar, Hamori said everything is under investigation.

On Monday, her father, Kevin Dunbar, dismissed that possibility as ridiculous.

“She was in Edmonton when all of this happened,” he said.

Mounties wouldn’t say if they believed the slain Terry Blanchette knew the suspect, whose name wasn’t given Tuesday to protect the investigation, they said.

At the Pure Country Grill and Pub in the Crowsnest Pass, Terry Blanchette’s co-workers were greeting the arrest and Hailey’s continued absence with a sense of foreboding.

“I think it’s wonderful they made an arrest but none of us are doing very good,” said a woman staffer, who wouldn’t give her name.

The woman, who said she knew both Terry and Hailey, added “nobody has any clue whatsoever why this would happen...Terry’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”

We're all sort of wondering that ourselves, lady.

I think it is sorted by most comments. Not who posted first. Others have times before hers.

Yes, I got a crash course in Facebook techniques today, I feel a lot wiser due to it.
