With any luck he will be classed as a dangerous offender and never be released from prison.

Hope you're right but IMO that is very rare in Canada. It would take a "Paul Bernardo" type to get that sentence.

Oh man no no no :( I stayed up until almost 4am, I must have just missed the news. I couldn't stop thinking about Hailey, I fell asleep hopeful for good news today. I just woke up and came online. When I saw 'Found Deceased'.. just everything drops out of ya :tears::tears: Why do we do this to ourselves? Time and time again we hope and pray when a little one goes missing, I'm sick and tired of evil scum killing babies, children. Young, carefree, happy lives and in the blink of an eye gone. Why? cos some sick individual decides they want to? They can? WTF?! Do us a favour take your own life not an innocent!!

Sorry for the rant guys, hit me like a ton of bricks this, I expected it, but damn:( :(

RIP Hailey and Terry :rose:

Life in Canada is 25 years. (for now)

Which is a joke.
At 22 years old, he's not going to be serving what Canada calls a "life sentence."
If he serves the whole thing (which IMO, he'll be out before then), he's only going to be middle-aged.
He'll still have plenty of life to live after being released.

I'm all for jailhouse justice for this piece of scum.
If an inmate kills him, then that's fine by me!

He killed an innocent child!

Even dangerous offenders get released from time to time :furious:

I couldn't resist searching for news this morning before work but I haven't had time to catch up with the thread before now. :( Heartbreaking news, though I admit I didn't have much hope that Hailey would be found alive once the arrest had been made. RIP to both dad & baby.

The MAX in Canada for killing two people is 25 years ?

It all depends on his conviction. First, second degree, etc

We will have to wait for trial. Was he charged yet?

What on earth is wrong with people ?!!
Who could look at a cute, trusting little kid, all of 2 years old and kill her?

Cowardly cockroach should have been exterminated 22+ years ago. imo.

I was hoping when I got on this morning that Hailey would have been found, alive and well. I'm so heartbroken that's not the case. I just don't understand any of this...:tantrum:

RIP in your daddy's arms :rose:

I woke up in the middle of the night with a pit in my stomach and a sinking feeling that this was a literal "over my dead body" situation. Oh, I don't want that to be the case. :(

No, just thinking out loud. I'd be very disappointed in a sentence that low for taking two lives.

Just reading now. Poor Hailey. I heard on the news that people at the vigil were told by police that her body was found
I don't know if s s killed in y house and transported elsewhere but I fear the usual in child abduction cases like this: motive was sexual. Jmo and I haven't finished the thread yet. Just found out the van was at the dry cleaners where he works.

BBM, sadly I agree matou

In Canada, it doesn't surprise me.
The justice system is terrible here.

I felt like I was going to throw up when I couldn't find this thread in the Missing forum this morning. RIP sweet Hailey and Daddy.

Karla Homolka was a Paul Bernardo type. Notice where she is now.

Maybe they will stack the charges on him end to end, so he won't see daylight for a couple hundred years. The way I see it, they can get him for two counts of first degree murder, kidnapping, breaking and entering, and being a creep in general.

I agree though, much more hideous crimes than this have been done in Canada and the perpetrator still made it back on the streets before he hit 50 y.o.

I'm sure his defense attorney will claim he was driven to all of this due to mistreatment by the mom during their courtship. He was "abused".......... 🤬🤬🤬 !!

It's not just Canada though, Casey Anthony did what would amount to 1/2 of this crime, and she's walking around free as a bird. Thanks a lot, Melvin Perry and the clueless jurors that live in Florida.
