my undergrad is crime and forensics...but, thanks?

police are sifting. not real sure what your point is...

Just a feeble response to today's LE statement that the body was burned beyond all recognition, or at least that's was in at least one media reported, so some posters here were wondering how you can positively identify a burned body and others have been wondering if the cause of death could be ascertained after cremation.

forgot to add:

were they seriously considering using the truck once things blew over? That's pretty dumb. Maybe that's what we're dealing with...a bunch of dummies? I mean, DM didn't even think to wear something that would cover his identifiable tattoos on the first test drive. Pretty basic, isn't it?
Perhaps this isn't some grand conspiracy involving intricate networks of organised criminal masterminds? Maybe it's just a couple of dumb, spoiled brats who wanted a free truck?

Bumping up Bessie's post from earlier for those who may have missed it.

Once again:

DO NOT:

  • sleuth people who have not been named by LE as suspects or POI's.
  • link to social networking pages of people who have not been named by LE as suspects. The few exceptions are victims' pages, and LE or MSM pages. Any exceptions must be mod-approved.
  • link to a social networking page unless you are 100% certain it belongs to the suspect/victim.
  • COPY & PASTE posts and comments from other websites, including FB, twitter, etc.
  • post the name of a private individual, minor or adult, who has not been named in the media. Even then, unless s/he's a major player, initials should be used in place of full names.
Questions about the rules or mod decisions should be addressed to a mod in a pm.

If you see a post that violates TOS, alert the post ASAP so a mod can handle the problem.

If you quote a post that has to be removed, your post will be removed, as well.

No, that's cool.

Would you like to make a donation to the fund though? I'd like to see whose bank account your cheque clears through. :floorlaugh:

:seeya:

Believe it or not, sillybilly, that idea actually crossed my mind.

Any idea when/if there is another press conference scheduled?

Good Morning. I have been waiting for approval for a couple of days. So much has gone on and so many posts, just want to give my two cents, be gentle with this 1st timer :blushing:

I have seen it discussed that a pay-as-you-go phone was purchased well in advance of TB going missing that was used to make the phone call regarding the truck, that an incinerator was moved to a site owned by DM, which some believe points to planning the crime. However, TB wife stood and watch him pull away with two men in the truck and would have seen the second vehicle following.

If they intended from the get go to murder TB would it have not made more sense planning wise to call and ask to meet him somewhere and then get in the truck to avoid witnesses? I know LE feels TB was targeted and some believe that was simply because he lived in a rural area. However with a little research they could have easily found a place such as a rural store parking lot that had no camera to meet up and avoid having TB wife see them leave.

Motive is also something I can't get my head around. As we all know DM comes from money. There has been speculation of financial trouble, however there is no indication from what I can see that it was leaving DM broke, I would hazard to guess he could have easily afforded to purchase the truck. So is it possible that none of this has anything to do with the truck itself?

Thanks for listening and I just want to say you are ALL fantastic, I have been reading for days and come here to read before MSM. Thank you for letting me be a part of this. :seeya:

Having a 2 yr old i dont believe tims wife had any interest in trying to get a gd look at the potential buyers, and im sure the following vehicle wasnt sitting in the driveway waiting to follow. It probably pulled out of the ancaster fairgrounds or something and began following there. Also, the first test srive witness identified DM as wearing short sleeves and DM probably realised he screwed up which is why SB identified DM as wearing long sleeves.

In response to TB's wife seeing the vehicle following the truck while they drove off, the vehicle could have been parked far enough down the road waiting for TB's truck to drive by and pull out behind them to follow as they drove passed.

I just can't imagine what TB's wife is going through - the agony of watching him get in that truck, drive off to never see him again. My heart breaks for her and their family.

None of it makes sense as to why they would murder someone over a used truck. Maybe things went badly inside the truck, TB tried to fight his way out and in a struggle, he was killed. Maybe it's much more darker than that.

There are plenty of vehicles that are stolen every day, why kill someone over it when you can just hot wire one out of a driveway or parking lot? Based on the videos and photos, DM seemed to know his way around an engine, surely he knew how to hot wire a vehicle?

I'm sure the police have an idea of who was with DM that night, they are now working the case to prove it, gathering evidence and it's just a matter of time before they make an arrest. The police are not going to share all their evidence with the public, they will only give an update as to where they are in the investigation. There are a lot of details that we won't hear until this case goes to court.

Hope they show video footage of DM in court today - I think we all want to see this monster. Maybe with the new charge of first degree murder, DM will start to name names. One can only hope.

I just heard on 680 that Dellen will be formally charged with 1st degree murder sometime this morning. I have a hard time believing they don't have any more suspects in custody.

I think LE are doing a great job and don't want to say otherwise, but it may just be my eagerness for every single person to be brought to justice involved in the most horrific crime I've felt so close to. Being a dad with a 2 year old daughter, plus so many other similarities, this is the first time I literally cried when hearing confirmation on the death of TB (as apposed to other news stories, I would shake my head, but not cry.. if you know what I mean ;)... I was holding onto that slight glimmer of hope he would still be alive somewhere. There are things we can learn from this event, and I believe all dad's everywhere are probably holding onto their family a little closer, I hope. I sure am.

Well, that was my first post, hope it wasn't too far off, I know you guys are doing a great job collectively trying to figure this one out here, and I applaud that. Also want to mention that it's extremely easy to let emotions fly over events like this, and so far this community has been amazingly level headed and grounded. Keep it up!

Free truck, yes, for parts. For them, the thrill is in the theft.

These guys have gained their moral values from Hollywood ie "Gone in 60 seconds", "Fight Club", etc.

Like all criminals, yes they are dumb, despite the so-called higher education of the accused. Criminals always leave evidence behind in some way or another, and I think these cold-blooded morons were too cocky to realize it.

JMO, this was likely a group of people who formed a vehicle theft ring that committed earlier thefts.

I really don't think this is about a truck. Yesterday I posted about a radio host on newstalk 1010 stating that a friend of DM's helped TB post the kijiji ad. I emailed the radio host asking for confirmation and this was his reply "It is something one of our reporters discovered but not confirmed"

There is a link, there has to be. That's my opinion.

From what I've read it's more like his son left him in financial ruins. I read on one forum of suspicions of him enjoying recreational drugs. I can just imagine conversations "when are you going to get a real job, or you have to bring in revenue. " Perhaps Daddio was about to cut him off. Actually he probably did since reading that blog about needing to rent out the hangar. Just when, where and how would he continue his vehicle rebuilding if kicked out?

Also wondering, did he really commute from Etobicoke daily? Was this his only "job"?

I agree with this line of thinking. WM was likely tired of working hard while DM was too ignorant, entitled and lazy to work for real. I hope LE does take a closer look at the death of WM. If it was ruled a suicide, then I would be very suspicious of the death being more criminal in nature. Perhaps DM was involved. The spoiled brat didn't like that Dadio wanted him to grow up. From there, DM would have thought there would have been a cash windfall after the death....which there wasn't. All pure speculation on my part, but it is very obvious that DM had a cash flow problem, and was looking to solve his problems using senseless crime instead of getting a job. He's not the first person to try that, and won't be the last. DM was just way too shortsighted and stupid to make a life of crime work. IMHO

FIRST POST!!!

I live in Hamilton (Ancaster, where TB lived is part of Hamilton) and have been following this forum for a few days. Lots of theories out there. I'm afraid of what we might find out as the case goes on. Based on detective MK's comments in this afternoon's press conference, I sense that there's a lot going on here that we don't know, and that it's about more than just a truck. In Canada, there's an ugly side to the construction business: honest contractors are bullied by bigger, corrupt companies who sometimes extort and otherwise make it hard for ppl like TB. Detective MK says TB was targeted. Why? Is there any evidence linking TB and DM before the truck ad? Have they searched TB's work emails yet?

I believe police would have looked into that.... And the specific type of "construction" would be of a large company competition, also type of construction was not said...drywaller? Plumber? Framer? Electrician? Etc...... Police have said tim is "self employed" which would be considered small.

Police looked into every venue.... Tim was cleared by police in yesterdays brief....tim did not know dm whatsoever.

Re-examine the known facts, based on what has been revealed:

a. Tim was killed and disposed of.

b. The truck was stolen, but not disposed of.

This was most likely about the truck. Tim died while in forcible confinement, hence the first degree murder charge. The accused and other suspects wanted a truck on a previous attempt, but not the owner of the truck.

It's about the truck. These are vehicle thieves.

I hear what your saying because I heard Kavanaugh say it to. I'm just not buying it. It might be a stall tactic while LE gathers more evidence. Plus you would think the host would have quickly dispelled the theory if it confirmed to not be true.

So by your theory... AM is not cleared and still a suspect. If Tim was of suspect, his answer would have been that he was unable to answer

I live in Southwestern Ontario and I've heard the sound of a helicopter flying the past 4 days in a row. I don't typically hear that sound too often, and usually it has been the ORNGE life-flight helicopter or eyes in the sky looking for pot plants. It's too early for spraying farmland or checking corn fields for pot so I wonder what the black and white helicopter has been doing in this area recently. Could the police be using aerial view to try to identify and discover the "unknown" second vehicle? There have been arrests down here in the past related to chop shops.

I will apologize if I'm wrong, but my brain won't let me believe this was about a truck. There are plenty of trucks DM could have stolen without having to resort to murder, especially with the resources they had (money, tools, equipment). If it were as simple as DM and crew being vehicles thieves then why haven't the LE offered that as a motive?
