''The Toronto Police Service is appealing to the public to help identify a suspect in a violin theft investigation.

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, investigators from 13 Division requested assistance in locating what was believed to be a lost violin and a news release was issued.

At the time, it was reported that a man had left his Lorenzo-Carcassi 1757 Concert violin which was in a bright red BAM case on the TTC Subway on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Investigators are now treating this as a theft investigation and are releasing two security camera images of a suspect they want to identify.

The suspect was last seen on Friday, December 18, 2020, exiting Dufferin Station with the violin on his back. He was also seen the next day in the subway.

He is described as in his 50s, wearing a grey winter jacket, blue jeans and a white toque.

Investigators would like everyone to review the photos and contact police immediately if anyone recognizes the man, see him or the violin. The owner would like the violin returned before the holidays.''

So glad the instrument is back with the owner!

What the reporters missed is that the bow is probably worth somewhere between 8K and 30k! And BAM cases are known for being sturdy to protect the instrument.

I'm glad it had a happy ending! :)
