Karel and his sister escaped from Soviet-ruled Czechoslovakia in 1983. Eventually, the siblings sought refugee status in Canada and were eventually sent to live in Kitchener because of its large Czech community. Karel and his sister took English language classes at Conestoga College and eventually became legal immigrants.

In November 1984, Karel called his sister to tell her that he had been offered a new job and was moving to Barrie, Ontario. He had previously worked as a crane operator, auto mechanic and truck driver. Later his sister learned that Karel did not go to Barrie.

  • Harvey had been living with Hendricks for only two weeks before her death. Hendricks is considered a possible suspect in the fire and Harvey's murder, but he is listed as a missing person and hasn't been charged with any crimes.

He never picked up his last paycheck at Craney's Body Shop where he worked, and he also left his tools behind there. Some other belongings of his, including his wallet, were left inside the burned house. Hendricks's boss describes him as a hard worker. He seemingly disappeared without a trace following the fire, and the circumstances of his disappearance are unclear.

I think Brosius' well-described scarring and this UID's do not match up.

True, but had wondered if any previous injuries /scars were obscured by injuries caused by the motorcycle accident? speculation.

This case is really puzzling me. I don't see any mention of a motorcycle helmet, so given the injuries, I expect that the deceased was not wearing a helmet. Helmet regulations came into effect in the '60s, so rider w/o a helmet would surely have drawn attention. He can't have gone far ... or it was late at night. Ugh! So few details are provided!

Neither was he wearing typical motorcycle clothing, at least not according to contemporary fashion. Jeans and cowboy boots? Was that the outfit du jour in 1988? Seems to me riders wore leathers.
If you are interested, I am the lady who found these two men on that fateful night .

Wow! Interested in most anything you remember!
I just joined this site today so you’ll have to forgive me while I try to navigate my way around it . I just woke up this morning and for some reason thought of him and decided to look him up again and see if he had ever been identified. Sadly he hasn’t been . But I remember it like it was yesterday .

I have read some of the posts here and noticed that a lot of people were guessing at some of the details . These are a couple of things that I will clarify. When I found them , the driver was already deceased . He was in fact wearing a helmet . His legs were wrapped around the pole in a v shape . The passenger was still alive when I got to him as he was still breathing. He was not wearing a helmet and there was no helmet in sight . John Doe was directly behind but sort of under the driver . It was very late at night . If I remember correctly it was around 3am . My husband and I had just got off our shift at work and drove a friend home . There were no other vehicles in sight neither . The one thing I do remember is that the road was wet as if one of those machines had just cleaned the road .
