Unfortunately there is nothing new on Tyler's case. He is still missing according to Find Tyler (Ty) Sidney McMichael Public Group | Facebook. I'm linking a couple older articles for reference.

McMichael, on a pass from hospital, vanished in May 2019. M. last spoke to McMichael the day he went missing, last May 24. They spoke by phone and he told her he planned to bike to Chatham to visit his father and would stop by her house before leaving. She hasn’t heard from him since, she said. There’s been no activity on his bank account, either.

“There are still more questions than answers, but I’m hopeful every day,” M. said. “That’s all I can do, hope.”

Tyler McMichael - Please Bring Me Home

MCMICHAEL, Tyler

Tyler was last seen May 24th 2019 at the Commissioners and Wellington area in London, Ontario. Tyler was a patient at the Victoria London Health Sciences Centre at the time of his
disappearance. It is believed that he left the centre on a 30 min pass but never returned. It is confirmed that he was not discharged at the time. Tyler had spoken to his mother around
9:30pm stating that he was in the Victoria Park area and that he had planned on biking to the Chatham area via Highway #2 to visit his father. Tyler’s father claims that he never arrived and
hasn't heard or seen him since.

This is extremely out of character for Tyler. He has been known to distance himself during times of relapse but would always touch base with his mother. His family is concerned for his well being as he has a history of substance abuse and mental health struggles. His bank accounts haven’t been used and his phone has been disconnected. There have been unconfirmed sightings of Tyler in the London area. It is believed that he may be going by the alias “Sidney”.

''A person fishing on Wednesday shortly before 2 p.m. came across the suspected remains, Middlesex OPP said.''

''Police confirmed the findings are human remains Thursday and cordoned off the scene along Hamilton Road near Byron Avenue, where four police vehicles were parked and a section of the road closed.''

The investigation appeared to focus on the south side of the river, where officers were gathered around a cardboard box containing evidence bags.
“We do have our emergency response team here searching the banks of the river,” OPP spokesperson Const. Jeff Hare said at the scene.

The OPP are working with Ontario’s chief coroner and an autopsy will be completed to determine identify of the remains and a cause of death.
Anyone with information should contact Middlesex OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.''

Friday, police announced he had been found dead – connected to human remains discovered in Thames Centre two months ago. The Free Press previously reported that remains were found along the banks of the Thames River in Dorchester on Feb. 15 by a person out fishing.

As of Friday, the Ontario Provincial Police investigation was ongoing. An OPP spokesperson declined to say whether the death is being treated as a homicide or provide a cause of death, noting investigators are still awaiting an update from the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

''With the announcement from London police and OPP, Rachel and Anthony McMichael say they feel a semblance of relief following the four year-long search for their son.

“Your child’s not supposed to die before you,” Rachel said.

DNA testing confirmed Tyler’s identity, but it took several weeks to get the results back.

“We’ve been playing a waiting game for some time now,” Anthony said.

The OPP investigator with the coroner’s report was off work Friday, so the cause of Tyler’s death remains unknown — leaving Rachel and Anthony frustrated.

“That would be a little more closure too,” she said.

His parents say Tyler was a patient at Victoria Hospital and was battling suicidal thoughts and drug addiction.

“That’s a lot for a young man to live with,” Rachel said.

Tyler reportedly went missing after he left the hospital on a 30 minute pass, but he never returned. For four years the McMichaels have searched tirelessly, asking the community to help bring him home.

On Friday their search came to an end, and Tyler lays at rest.

“Certainly this end isn’t what we would want, but it is better that he’s not suffering,” said Rachel. “It doesn’t mean you don’t miss him though.”

According to OPP, no foul play is suspected.''
