BREAKING NEWS: U.S. Consulate in downtown Toronto hit by gunfire

Road closures are in place in Toronto’s downtown core after police say someone discharged a firearm at the U.S. Consulate early Tuesday morning.

'Investigators say shots were fired at the building, located near University Avenue and Queen Street West, at around 5:30 a.m.

No injuries have been reported and police have not provided any information on possible suspects.

Southbound University Avenue is closed between Queen and Dundas streets for the police investigation.'

NEW: Toronto Police Service says it is looking for this vehicle in connection with an incident this morning when two men allegedly exited the vehicle and fire multiple rounds into the U.S. Consulate in that city. There were no reported injuries.

Canadian police are investigating reports of two individuals driving up to the U.S. consulate in Toronto overnight and firing shots at the building. NBC News' Stephanie Gosk reports that police said they are still investigating whether the shooting was related to events in the Middle East.
