Southbound University Avenue is closed between Queen and Dundas streets for the police investigation.'
'In a post just before 7 a.m., police said they did not have information on a suspect.
Officers are on the scene investigating and part of University Avenue is closed to traffic near the consulate. Anyone with more information is asked to contact police'.

'They are investigating a possible link to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East that involves the US.
In Toronto, streets have been closed in the vicinity of the US consulate as police investigate.
Several buildings in Toronto have been shot at since the US-Israeli operation against Iran began on 28 February. Three separate Jewish synagogues in Toronto have been struck by bullets in the past week.
A Toronto boxing gym owned by an Iranian-Canadian critic of the Iranian government was also struck by bullets last Monday.'

'These gunshots at 5:29 a.m. Tuesday not only woke up downtown Toronto, but were heard all the way to Washington.

During peacetime when someone fires a gun at or toward the American consulate in Toronto, they are shooting at the United States.'

When it’s done while the United States is at war, it could become a major diplomatic incident.

Throw in that members of the Iranian-Canadian community who support the fundamentalist Islamic regime were out there protesting on the weekend, and this could end up being a turning point as well as a concern if Americans are safe in Canada.

Like the shootings at Jewish synagogues, a message is being sent. But this is horrifying.

Certainly, this is more than a routine gun call. It’s a potential game changer.''

''They noted that a white Honda CR-V was seen travelling westbound on Dundas Street West before turning southbound onto University Avenue and stopping in front of the Consulate. At that point, they said, two males exited the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the building.
The suspects then re-entered the vehicle and drove southbound on University. When officers arrived, they found damage to the glass and door of the building, as well as shell casings at the scene. ''
