You are right! The way you describe it is usually the way things are done. But in this case, I guess media got the info. from the relative as she did seem to speak to them ahead of time. However, I would think Bousquet is the maiden name of the mom, but don't quote me on that.
No need to explain yourself.
It's out there now in its correct version.
Just wish we could know what happened and why :(

Wondering if the link i also posted which included different names, should be snipped or removed? Too late to edit.

I would leave it for now, so that we can compare versions and figure this out correctly? :)

That's NOT the name in the official announcement (quoted in post #119)

Exactly. And that is why only LE or the genetic researchers should make announcements like these.
Poor boys. I wonder why this happened, but I guess we'll never know.

To both @carbuff and @AliceInPain

I was quoting the name as it appeared here:

Who are the Babes in the Woods found dead in Stanley Park? - Vancouver Is Awesome

"Ally Brady, 26 was flicking through the family album one day when she discovered that she had two great uncles who she had never met. The older boy had blonde hair and blue eyes, and the younger had darker features. When Ally asked her grandmother Diane who they were, she found out they were Diane’s younger brothers David and Derek Bousquet."

Just wanted to clarify that I would never intentionally put in the wrong name. I completely agree with you both that LE & genetic researchers should be the ones revealing this info. I made the mistake thinking that if it was in this article that it was official.

You didn't do anything wrong DSCrime. MSM articles and info are allowed here, they got it wrong, not you.

The first names of the boys are the same in the Vancouver Sun/blog. Another detail in the police statement matches up with info on the blog, but IMO police won't release any further details. It will be up to the family what they wish to share.

Redgrave Research was the agency in charge of the research. Anthony Redgrave tweeted this information yesterday and today.

Eve was not given permission to share this information. She had nothing to do with the investigation and has misreported facts. This lack of journalistic integrity is incredibly disappointing.

So there's the confirmation... God, this is so sad. Rest in peace David and Derek.

Like a parent (mother), covering their child at night. Good point.

Looks like you were the first to call this way back in 2006!

  • #132
I’m glad they’ve been identified despite all odds.

Rest peacefully now Derek and David.

Rodriguez said the family member had uploaded a DNA sample with the express purpose of learning what had happened to the boys.

"The story that had been handed down to them was that the boys had been removed from the residence by the ministry," Rodriguez said.

"Even though this family member did their best to talk about the boys and try to get the story, the only response they got from family was silence. The absence of the boys was never discussed."

Police say they're looking into whether there's any truth to the story about child protection officials being involved with the family.

Wow! I have no words! I almost cried when I saw their names and their pictures! I have been looking into this case since 2007. I never thought this day would come!

I'm so happy that these two young boys have their identity back.
Rest in peace Derek and David!

Their sister passed away in 2020. Unfortunately we won't be able to ask her questions regarding her brothers. She would have been around 10 at the time of their deaths. Her obituary mentions them (not by name) but that she was one of three children.

If we find information through obituaries, etc. Are we allowed to mention it as long as we leave out the names or link for privacy?

I'm also curious about the D'alton surname. The boys were half brothers so wouldn't have the same name unless mom married and her husband adopted them. The sister had said she didn't know her or her brothers fathers.

"Ally(great niece of the boys) says Diane did not know who her father was or who the fathers were of her half-brothers."
