Circumstances of Disappearance
Viola Panacheese was last seen on August 18, 1991 walking on Lakeshore Avenue in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. She was in Sioux Lookout visiting her daughters and grandchildren from Winnipeg. According to her daughters, she went out with some friends one night and never came home.

Viola Panacheese, 42, was seen for the last time on August 18, 1991. At the time, she was walking on Lakeshore Avenue in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the case. In December 2017, her family spoke at the MMIWG inquiry hearings in Thunder Bay. Viola’s oldest daughter, Lilly Southwind, said several years after her mother went missing she tried to retrieve the photos of her mother that her family had given to the police. She was told that her mothers file was lost and that it “may have gone into the burn pile.” The police have since tried to rebuild the file, but Southwind says it’s too late.
