Sorry, I misread the star article as saying he jumped from a van. The article just says vehicle and he did indicate that it was a different vehicle than the van he was abducted in.

ETA: okay now I see where I got the idea he jumped from a moving van, it is the title of the article!

The area where this vehicle was found is about 10km from the Dixon Rd gang area. Unlikely this vehicle is involved in this IMO. We don't even know if any of the suspects are part of or connected to the Dixon Rd Somali community although I admit it is likely. WL claims he jumped from a van. Come to think of it, if he was hooded, how did he know he was in a van? Or did he just assume he was in the same vehicle that was involved in his abduction?

All good points. I’m keeping my mind wide open , these suspects haven’t made a whole lot of sense in their actions so far.

One glaring question remains, now that we know WL escaped, where exactly were they taking him?

They probably didn't take the vehicles because they figured they'd be equipped with some type of GPS. Most newer vehicles have some type of security system that includes GPS so, IMO, it would've been an even dumber move to take the cars.

There are illegal devices that can jam GPS signals.
Probably easy for even small time criminals to obtain such a device.
I think the suspects thought WL was legitimately wealthy and either he or his family could cough up millions in cash without blinking .

I am still at a loss as to how a wealthy Chinese student from Markham, going to "school" in Vaughan caught the attention of these guys who are obviously from the Rexdale/Brampton area and made them deviate from their regular organized crime type activities.

"Addow was last seen wearing a mask and blue pants with a black jacket.

"We need to bring him into custody. He is clearly capable of violence," Const. Andy Pattenden, a spokesperson for York Regional Police, said on Thursday.

"He is considered armed and dangerous. If you do spot him please call 911."

Police revealed earlier this week that a demand for ransom was made in the case. Investigators wouldn't confirm any details of how or when the demand was received, or the amount sought, but spokesperson Const. Andy Pattenden did say it was "made late into the investigation."

"Police have also yet to reveal details about why Lu may have been targeted."

"Police told reporters on Thursday they have yet to identify the driver, but "it's only a matter of time."

The article does state that he is from a wealthy Chinese family. Seems like his mother's side of the family is wealthy and his father makes a good living as well. He certainly fits the profile of a fuerdai.
But he may have been stretching the boundaries of what his parents were willing to pay for.

The question is, why didn't these guys go after the vehicles or his bank card in an attempt to drain his bank account if they thought he was rich. Why didn't he have his wallet with him when he had been coming home from shopping and driving his vehicle? What about his cell phone? What happened to that? Nothing is adding up and by reading that article it appears that LE aren't satisfied with the "random abduction for ransom" theory either. They're still entertaining all possibilities.

I agree. LE continue to pursue other motives as there is lots that does not make sense here. Was this a diversion to expedite 2 Chinese nationals into Canada? Can LE confirm the two people who arrived expeditiously into Canada are in fact WL's parents?

Not likely . As an International student it would’ve been very easy and a mere formality for them to obtain visas the moment WL started school here. If you were sending your child off to another country for school wouldn’t you make sure you could visit them at any time? And wouldn’t you make sure to get this done as early as possible?

I've been thinking the same thing. Maybe we're at the stage where some people are facing charges and no information will be released until trial.

Too many moving parts , have to keep info under wraps until all are arrested and LE can hear everyone’s version of events.

There’s also likely accessory charges coming since it’s pretty clear the last 2 suspects are hiding out and they are clearly being helped.

Isn't it possible that they have left the country? That's what I would have done if I were in their shoes.

They had a head start and could have left the country without any issues - assuming there are no immigration limitations ?? Most people have a passport now that one is needed to cross the USA - Canada border, so it should have been easy to get on a plane with the fancy Canada Goose coat, a passport, song and dance. Maybe there are warrants in their names, or they have criminal records that restrict some travel?
