''According to loved ones, William Schernhammer, 24, was captured on surveillance video at the Pioneer gas station on Victoria Street in Alliston Friday night after heading out to pick up cigarettes.''

''Provincial police say he was last seen around 12:30 a.m. wearing a light brown jacket, dark-coloured sweater, and blue jeans.

Schernhammer is five feet 11 inches tall with a thin build, light brown hair and blue eyes.

Police say they have no reason to suspect foul play.''

''Family and friends hit the streets, putting up posters to get the word out in hopes someone has seen Schernhammer or knows his whereabouts.

A candlelight vigil is being organized for Thursday at 7 p.m. in Alliston to "brighten William's walk home." Participants will gather at the Pioneer gas station on Victoria Street East and walk to the intersection where Schernhammer was last seen.

Police urge anyone with information on his whereabouts or video surveillance from the Albert and Ontario streets area after midnight on January 12 to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.''

Human remains found in Adjala-Tosorontio believed to be missing Alliston man

An Alliston man who mysteriously disappeared over a week ago is believed to be dead after provincial police discovered a body over the weekend.

''Provincial police say officers found human remains in Adjala-Tosorontio on Sunday night in the area of the 25th Sideroad.

While police have not confirmed the identity of the deceased, William Schernhammer's mother, Rachelle Schernhammer, told CTV News investigators notified her about the discovery on Sunday.''

''Following the news of his death, William's mother commented on the incredible support from the community.

"I prayed for kindness in a hard world, and I got far more than I could have ever asked for.

My prayers for William weren't answered the way I had hoped. I prayed my son William be found. My prayer was answered. I prayed my son William find peace. He now has peace.
