GUILTY Canada - Woman, 43, drowned in bathtub, Mississauga, 18 Jan 2003

The only question now is will they be sentenced under the Youth Act or as Adults.

Their defense lawyers say: Poor girls, give THEM a break and sentence them as "youthfull offenders".

But the Crown is making an application before the court to have them sentenced as adults.

There is a big difference between life in Prison without Parole for say 10 to 15 years and as a youthfull offender of 6 years in "closed" custody.

Anyways: These girls, being found guility will have to pay back every dime they ever received in Insurance money.

I can't believe that two girls would cold heartedly take the life of a women who was present when they took their first breath. To think that the girls caused their own mother to take her last breath.

Hi Cyber! When I think of "youthful"- I think more of a prankster or a mindless act-not understanding the full complexity of their actions- IMO this does not apply here. These girls seemed methodical and deliberate in their actions not to mention no signs of remorse:(- let's hope the Crown wins this one!

Thank God for that German Shepherd, Mr. E

This is a sad case all the way around. Death is not the answer and people seem to kill so easily anymore! It's just so sad! I have a feeling that the girls were students and the mother taught them well and it backfired on her....not to put it lightly but I think her behavior taught them more than she bargained for. So sad but they should get punished (I sure don't know what I would suggest) for their crime.

Well the mother was not a convicted killer, nor had she spent any time in prison on murder charges. So the mother did not teach the two girls to solve their problems by killing the person whom they beleive was a problem in their life.

These two girls choose to solve their problems with violence. One was 16 and could have moved out and received "student" welfare and lived on her own and her sister was 15.

But now with their mother out of the way: It is party central, booze, drugs, boys. No parental control or supervision.

Plus 70 K each with an eye to take 10K of that to spend two months in Europe.

Unless in self defence, there are always choices to make besides killing a person in cold blood and using their addiciton to kill them.

Remember Scott Peterson, Divorce was an option but that did not "suit" him, but would have been much, much better for Laci and Connor. But then again killers don't give their victims a choice.

These two girls are self-absorbed, self-centered, selfish, greedy and with no conscience. They killed their mother because they thought they would be better off, not once did they think about how their victim would feel by having her life snuffed out by the two children that she gave life to.

The end do not in many circumstances, justify the means.

They planned this for months in advance down to the last detail and even picked out a day that they would end their mothers life. Incapicated their victim with booze and pills and then calmy drowned her and then went out drinking with their friends...........

I agree that their mother was not the best role model in their lives and no doubtedly and sadly contributed to their psychological demention, however, we are also taught by society that we do not take the law into our own hands- this was not the way to escape their mother's alcoholism and it is wrong to kill anybody- period! For example, self defense, is a defense and rightly so- but that does not say that killing was RIGHT- if proven that it was necessary to kill someone to protect yourself -than that is the reason that they are found not guilty, BUT it does not take away the fact that they are still charged with a misdemeanor- killing- which is against the law.

These girls have to accept the consequences for their actions- no excuses- just like an abuser who was abused all his life, must be responsible for his actions- it is simply not a defense in the law- an explanation of why people do what they do, most definitely, but not a legal defense.

Sorry to ramble on- jmho. Hope this is clear as mud- sigh! Basically I agree with you whole-heartedly Cyberlaw.

I agree with your viewpoint. It isn't normal, and I also wouldn't want these kids around me. If they can kill their own mother, it's hard to say what else they are capable of.

I surely hope that you have a much better life now. You certainly deserve it. :blowkiss:

at first i was going to say, i can totally understand how an unbearably dysfunctional situation could drive you to do a terrible thing (although that's not always an excuse, depending on what type of act/crime we are talking about)... but when i read on, & saw what kind of bratty, shallow, sociopathic little monsters these 2 are--- with the drugs, laughing over the exposed thong, and talking about thousands of dollars being "chump change"-- a lot less than our friends are getting", etc.... i say, HANG 'EM HIGH!!!
unfortunately it seems the mother, being drunk for so long, apparently missed out on that very important window for teaching your kids how to be human. and some kids aren't born with the "human" gene, they need to be taught. this appears to be the case with these 2.

Just reading what these two girls had to say gave me the chills. They have no remorse at all...NONE. I can understand kids wanting their mother to be different and being sick and tired of the drinking and whatever else the mom was probably doing but to murder her??? Everything that they say is so cold.
The older sister found out how easy it is to murder. That is how it goes for a lot of killers. They find out how easy it was the first time and so the next time is just frosting on the cake. Both of these girls give me the creeps and I hope they are locked up for many years. They are scary to say the least.

Two Mississauga teenage sisters convicted of murdering their mother talked about their arrest and sought sex from an operator of an Internet chat site based in Chicago before they went on trial, the Star has learned.

The girls, whose identities are protected by law, also sent pictures to the website, including several shots of the older sister posing naked.

As well, they reportedly provided information that had never before been revealed until their trial began Nov. 7, including that police had secretly videotaped conversations where they confessed to killing their mother.

"One guy had a camera hidden in his car, so he caught my bull----," a person identifying herself as the older sister tells the website operator in an online message board posting on Oct. 7 — a month before their trial began. "Now I'm under arrest. If I'm not convicted, I'll fill in the specifics."

Peel police said they were unaware of the site or that the online conversations even existed until yesterday.

"But we're now going to be investigating this and having our tech crimes experts look into it," Peel homicide Insp. Jennifer Evans told the Star yesterday.

"I can't get away for a few more weeks because I'm under house arrest," a person claiming to be the older teen wrote on Nov. 25, after the trial was underway. "I have too many secrets."

The teens will undergo psychiatric examinations before they are sentenced in March. None of the newly discovered Internet chats revealed details about the murder, but they do provide further insight into their mental state.

Sorry, it's a weak excuse. These two girls found it acceptable to snuff their own mother. Yes, she may have been abusive and irresponsible. BUT they went there. They went to ridding themselves of the problem. Just kill her, we get money-life will be better. There is something severly wrong with their wiring. Does society really want these types of thinkers in society? There's a line that they crossed, which is something I believe can not be repaired. Their brains allowed them to think this was OK. As a victim myself of all who should have cared for me (who had an alcoholic "real" mother weekly try to kill herself and had her bar boyfriends attack me at 3am) I NEVER EVER WENT THERE. My brain wouldn't allow me to snuff my step monster after she would rub my nose in wet bedsheets like a dog, and finally tried to kill me with scissors at the ripe old age of 14 (even in self defense), or beat the crap out of my father and shoot him a thousand times because he thought I was his personal playboy bunny. My brain wasn't wired that way, because I had a conscience. I could not go there, because it was WRONG. My brain wouldn't allow me to go over that line-even if I thought I wanted to step on over. There is something seriously wrong with anyone who tries to kill another-unless it's in serious self defense. It is not normal to actually kill someone. There are options. An abused woman CAN get her 🤬🤬🤬 out of that home. An abused teen can find help. There were options-they choose the "better" option for themselves. These two girls drugged their own mother and one admitted to drowning the drugged/drunk woman. They knew exactly what they were doing. Once someone has been able to cross that line, I don't think they can go back. Lock them up, I don't want that mentality around my family. Would you want one of them to be dating anyone in your family, like your son or maybe even your daughter? Scary thought. I don't think anyone can be rehabilitated after they have taken away life. That line was crossed, they are incapable of making conscience choices. Get them mental help for life, and keep them away from my family.
Excellent post
