“When officers arrived on scene they located the female victim. She was suffering from stab wounds to her head and face,” Insp. Lori Kranenburg told reporters.

“When the officers arrived, the suspect was still on scene and has been taken into custody and I'm told that they will be charged with one count of aggravated assault.''

''TTC workers and passengers are like sitting ducks.''

It’s not safe, and the brass have no answers.

Violence struck again Tuesday afternoon, with a woman in her 20s stabbed around 2 p.m. on a streetcar at Spadina Ave., just south of Bloor St.

It’s not a matter of if someone will be randomly attacked on a bus, streetcar or subway train. It’s a matter of when.

It happens too frequently. During the last few days alone, there have been allegations riders were sexually assaulted, a bus driver shot at with a BB gun and two transit employees assaulted on a bus.

It’s a crisis.

You can’t blame the police or TTC special constables. They’ve made arrests in every one of these cases. But you can blame a failed approach on bail, efforts to enable illegal drug use and inadequate public investment in mental health and addictions treatment.''

''Operators have told the Toronto Sun they’re starting to bring their own bear spray to fend off potential attacks. No one thinks operators should take matters into their own hands, but they shouldn’t be lambs to the slaughter, either.''

''A Toronto woman is facing an attempted murder charge after she allegedly stabbed a stranger multiple times on a TTC streetcar, leaving them with what police are calling life-altering injuries.
Police responded to the area of Spadina and Sussex avenues just after 2 p.m. Tuesday for a stabbing call onboard the vehicle.
When they arrived, officers discovered a 23-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds to her head and face as a result of being slashed “numerous times.” She was rushed to hospital with “life-altering injuries,” police said.''

''The suspect, who police identified Wednesday as 43-year-old Leah Valdez, was still on scene following the incident and taken into custody.

She’s charged with attempt murder, aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace, and possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized.

Valdez was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court room on Wednesday morning.

Police said Valdez and her alleged victim are not known to each other.''

it's scary times for sure
something's gotta change and quickly
I hope this victim will be able to heal physically and emotionally from this
