My post will be kind of disgusting so read further at your own risk.

If she gets the death penalty she will live in a cell that is 6' x9' for almost fifteen years. Her meals will be prepared by prison staff. She will have a short time every day to get a little excercise and can shower every other day.

If she gets LWOP she will share a cell. There will be something from someones bodily orifices in every meal she eats. She will be raped with objects and forced to stick her face in the worst of places for a long time. She will get beat up on a regular basis. She will end up telling where she put Caylee even if they have to twist her arms out of the sockets or cut fingers off. For spite, some may break her knee so that every painful step she takes for the rest of her life will remind her of why she is there. She will eventually fall under someones protection which will be no picnic either.

LWOP means that Caylee will be coming home for a proper burial, the easy or hard way. I vote for that. Solitary and death would be way too easy.

You just put it in better prospective. I know they might have a problem with getting the death if there is no body so I am now leaning to LWOP. She will be reminded everyday of what she did becuase the general pop doesn't like it when you mess with a child. She is screwed for life literally.

Of the 3 defendants in my friend's murder, 1 was executed and 2 got life. Having seen the effect of the execution on the family whose son was executed in this case, I realize that the death penalty creates a whole new set of victims and destroys their lives. So I vote life without chance of parole.

This is my main objection to execution as well; that it makes victims of the condemned person's family and loved ones, who didn't commit a crime themselves but pay a terrible price. Casey's parents have the kind of parental feelings for her that she didn't have for Caylee, so it must be unbearable for them, having already lost Caylee, to contemplate losing Casey as well, no matter what she has done, no matter that she isn't even the girl they think they love. That is why I think they have behaved so terribly, they cannot face losing her as well. And much as I wish they would not carry on with their hopeless cold charade, I do have sympathy for them– their lives are ruin beyond recognition, they will never be happy ever again.
So I would rather she got LWOP to spare them from any more torment.

If she is convicted, where will she go? Just wondering how far the family will have to drive to visit her, but I don't know in what division of the prison she will be housed.

I know someone here on WS knows this; I just didn't know where to post the question.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I am against the death penalty personally.

However, there are benefits to life without parole:

A) Much cheaper for the taxpayers. Death penalty convictions have automatic appeals. I read that it cost Florida $3 million to put Ted Bundy to death because of all the appeals.

B) Death row inmates have their own cell and therefore more privacy. Lifers have to share a cell. Much worse quality of life for the inmates.

Life with no parole for a 22-year-old means a very very very long and miserable life.

Yes, but I wonder what the cost is to us Florida Tax payers to feed her, house her, etc. for the remainder of her life. That could be another 60+ years of paying for her, which I don't care to do...

KC might be just take the death penalty... I wouldn't be surprised if she did. Her mind works in weird ways.

I agree, she might take the death penalty and go to her grave never revealing where she put Caylee's body. I don't think she will ever tell where Caylee is. Caylee's body might be found now or years from now, but it is going to be without KC's help.

I'm not for the death penalty so obviously my pick is life imprisonment.

I'm wondering how other cases would've fared with this poll. Is this poll result (no death penalty winning the poll) representative of the bent of this board or this particular case?

IF it's revealed this was premeditated and not a temporary fit of rage - I wonder if the result would/will be different.

I think life in prison would not be punishment for such as she. On another thread people were discussing how much it seems to suit Susan Smith, and I think the same would be true here. She would thrive in a structured atmosphere with virtually no responsibilities and all her basic needs met. It would be as though she were still living with her parents but without the "little snot head" keeping her down.

The genius poster who said something along the lines of "Cell Block C, Casey party line, hold please" got it right.

I voted life in prison because I think it is a worse punishment. Maybe not for Casey though; she may thrive in prison. After hearing the trial I may be swayed to choose the death penalty. It depends on the evidence submitted. That would be for selfish reasons though.

They are NOT going to like her in prison. Baby killers don't fare well in mens prison and I'd think it might be worse in a womens. It's not going to fly well. There are other reasons beyond that the prisoners will have to hate her.

I believe in the death penality. BUT, she will be in death row anyway for 25 years, so it doesn't matter. Imagine the party girl, no drugs, no clothes parties, no sex with MEN, no facebook, no acrylic nails, no cute hair do's etc............great life for a 22 yr old til she is an old lady. IMO

I thought baby killers didn't fare well in prison either but isn't Susan Smith doing okay? Is she in some kind of isolation or in with other baby/child killers or abusers. Do they isolate these type of criminals?

This case sorely tests my core beliefs.

I am anti-death penalty. I live in a state where too many death row inmates have later been exonerated for me to be comfortable with its execution (no pun intended).

Aside from that, it goes against my beliefs.

But if ever there were a defendant worthy of execution....

The due to the reasoning that KC killed caylee for her "freedom". What better way for Justice, then KC never being able to have freedom again. I read on another post someone said have a hidden tape of caylee saying "mommy" that plays randomly in her cell. I think that and can't they completely poster her cell with pictures of caylee. I don't think there should be a minute that goes by that kc shouldnt be reminded of why shes there.

Also, lets suggest that the officers in the jail have a new uniform -"justice for caylee" tee shirts, with Caylee's beautiful Face on the front and back of them :)

I am not going to vote yet.

But I don't think that if KC is sentenced to LWOP that she will sit in prison and think about her crime and be miserable. That is the past. She probably no longer gives Caylee or Caylee's death much thought at all, if any. I would wager that she spends many hours of her day focused on what she is reading, listening to on the radio, going to snack on next, but all of those hours are spent without one single thought to her daughter Caylee. That's just my opinion though.

I think she will adapt very quickly to life in prison. She will probably become a model prisoner in order to earn special duties to try to befriend those she is in contact with even it is only guards and other prison personnel.

She will probably remain in some type of protective custody to keep her safe from other inmates. If she has male guards, she will focus all her energy in order to manipulate them until she finds one like S. Smith found in order to have sex. Not for the sake of having sex but for the drama, for the validation that she is the most beautiful woman in the world as she sees herself probably in her own mind.

If she can't find a male officer, she will find a female officer that will suffice. Not saying anything against the officers in jail. Just saying that is how I see KC.

So I can't decide yet. I'll come back when I have and vote.

I voted DP a long time ago and still think thats what she should get and I think it is a worse punishment for someone like her. Look how cushy she is living in the jail right now. All sorts of people sending money. She doesn't even eat jail food. She orders up whatever she wants from the jail. All sorts of goodies and toiletries. She will never be put in general population so don't think that will give her her just desserts. It is too dangerous to put her there and they never will. I think it would be alot more scary to sit on death row for years wondering when and if you will get the axe. in prison you just get used to things and find a way to live that way and it looks like FL has cushy prisons with all the stuff they can order and live on. We sure don't have that in CA!!

It's my understanding that for Murder 1 in Florida, even if the case is tried as LWOP that the judge can over-ride this and call for the DP. Does anyone know if this is correct or not?

Thanks for the bump, jbean.

I used to be anti-death penalty, but a few years ago my attitude shifted. I think this crime is worthy of the death penalty.

I voted Life as only two choices available. I personally don't think either remedy is appropriate.
