Cold Case: Carl Galbraith, 13, murdered Dec. 17, 1977
June 11 2020
''Thirteen-year-old Carl Galbraith’s body was found near a long, residential driveway in a water-filled ditch east of 341st Avenue and Geneva Road in New Munster in December 1977.
He had last been seen alive in Richmond, Ill., the day before he was killed.
Galbraith had been stabbed multiple times and had his throat slashed, according to news reports of that time.
While persons of interest have been looked into over the decades following the murder, none have been convicted of the crime.
The list of persons of interest even includes serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who Cook County, Ill., sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Howard Anderson said in December 1978 he could place n Kenosha County “on at least one occasion during 1977, and that he may have worked there or visited on other occasions,” according to a Dec. 29, 1978, Kenosha News report.
However, nothing officially came of that investigation, and the case went cold.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department reopened the case in 2009. However, it has yet to be solved.
If you have any information on the case, please call the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5102 or give a tip anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-807-8477 or 262-656-7333.''
