Carla was last seen in Escambia County, Florida on May 10, 1984. Her vehicle and purse were discovered abandoned at the entrance of Fort Pickens, on the Gulf Island National Seashore on West Santa Rosa Island, Florida. She had gone there to sunbathe by herself. Her blanket was found on the beach, along with one set of footprints leading to the water. Authorities believe she may have drowned.
