Barbara left home in Escambia County, Florida on the morning of December 5, 1979 to go to class at the University of West Florida. She met a friend for breakfast at McDonalds and seemed normal at the time. She was seen driving later that day, but has never been heard from again. A week later, Barbara's car turned up at Pensacola Regional Airport with her books inside and the driver's seat pushed all the way back. Five days after authorities questioned Barbara's boyfriend about her disappearance, he committed suicide. Foul play is suspected in Barbara's disappearance.
