Carlee has a scar on her left side and right ankle.
Carlee was last seen in Westland, Michigan between midnight and 1:00 am on August 20, 2010. She apparently left her apartment building to talk on her cell phone, barefoot and wearing pajamas, and never returned. All of her personal belongings, including her purse, money, and clothes were left behind. Her cell phone has not been used since she disappeared.
In December 2010, 4 months after Carlee disappeared, Nicholas Jay Cottrell and Justin Lee Yoshikawa, confessed to killing her the night she vanished. Both were charged with first degree murder. In January 2011, Cottrell struck a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against Yoshikawa.
Yoshikawa is still awaiting trial. Carlee's body has never been located.
