Cases possibly of interest for the LISK case

@Notorious... Once upon a time there were were some theories floating that some of the murders, not necessarily LISK victims, but some of the other victims found, were gang related It's been awhile and I've missed alot. I just thought maybe it was news of interest to some who may think so. Does anyone have the link to the thread for the teens?

Hawkshaw,

"I managed to get a few snippets of the A&E Lisk/Serial Killer case and from what I saw you folks are NOT going to be disappointed. It is a first class production, IMHO. This Board is going to be very busy come early November and the rest of the weeks the show plays"

How's that? Can you not give a snippet of info?

I hope it will be viewable online. Even more than that, I hope it reveals new information.

They did a $15 screening in East Hampton. Also FYI - Investigation Discovery contacted me about using some footage I had in another special on this topic.

You folks should read a story in today's Newsday. It is about the coming of the A&E documentary about the Gilgo Murders. Mr.Burke is prominently mentioned in that article.

Are you referring to the websleuths/LISK doc? Interesting. Can't wait to see it.

Interestingly enough they now have found yet another person dead in Brentwood. A 35 y/o man found blugeoned to death on the side of the road. He was actually barely alive when police arrived but was pronounced dead on the scene. I personally do not believe there is any relation to LISK.

What was interesting in the news today was this article. http://www.newsday.com/long-island/...o-10-years-for-raping-german-woman-1.12456292

This seems like a guy who needs to be looked into more. Don't know if it's because I get a Ted Bundy vibe off him or what but using the web to find victims.....sounds familiar.

I'm trying to reply with a quote but the site is choking every time- so anyway, that's an interesting news article on the rape drug guy from Long Island. I don't think he's related to this case, but it sure doesn't sound like this predator didn't suddenly victimize these two women without trying it out on previous victims as well. Gross.

Dennis Edison was a lifeguard in Long Beach in 2009 when he was 25 according to this profile of him in a 2009 Newsday article about a distance biking fundraiser he and his friend were setting out on: https://tjrobertson.wordpress.com/tag/biking/

From that article...

"Without proving the woman was physically helpless at the time of the attack, prosecutors said Edison could have only faced a lower-level conviction that carried a maximum of 4 years in prison.

Singas, whose office sought a 20-year prison term, said she pursued the higher-level conviction, “because this woman was raped in a very horrific way.”

Sounds like he is sadistic, searches for victims online, and likes his victims incapacitated with drugs. He does deserve a look-see. I agree. If it's permitted by TOS. Mods?

I often wonder if LISK is still active, either in a different state, or he has changed his MO. I would assume searching for escorts on sites like backoage and CL is way too risky for him now. If he's still active then he most likely had to find a new way to seek out victims. Perhaps a website this the one mentioned in the article would be good.

Hope I didn't break rules by posting that! I'm still a little unclear on how this all works here.

Eta: Yeah, I agree, he's (LISK)definitely changed his whole way of doing things. Or, he's dead or in jail.

IIRC he's (Edison) fair game if he's in the mainstream media. Is that right? thanks

Does Long Island have an opiate crisis like New England does right now? That's the only way I could see him dying prematurely. Otherwise, I think, statistically, he's still out there.

If LISK changed his MO, what might that look like? Back to women he could find on the street, like Jessica Taylor?

It seems that he's in his comfort zone online. If he (once upon a time) found his victims on the streets (ie...JT) he may revert back to that. Its actually the logical thing to do. Or he may be so comfortable online that he may just find another avenue (website) to connect with the most vulnerable people he can find, namely drug addicts and prostitutes. He wants easy prey. Is there another group of vulnerable people online that we may not necessarily think about as potential victims? Runaways? Homeless? International couch hoppers? He may have moved, but still has family and friends on Long Island. He can't risk taking from his usual victim pool. Maybe he travels. It's easy enough to go from city to city calling escorts from the phone book or even online. He could call around until he finds someone who'll do a car date. If he scatters his victims, he's less like to be connected. One things sure, he wants to keep killing but he doesn't want to be caught. I think he's torn between taking credit for more murders and fear that if he puts his signature on it, he'll be busted. JMVHO

Sadly, it's a Nationwide epidemic. Opiates would explain why he sounded drunk to MB sister.

OT.....hi justice !!!....glad to see you back....

Back to the topic.....I'm thinking we will eventually find out a lot more about Bittrolff . He may have traveled to AC for work as well IYKWIM.

Mention of AC makes me think -- LISK might go somewhere with a big prostitution "scene," with less oversight....

It's possible Aleph. TF has a great theory but it may not be just a theory (remember that cops, once upon a time, also thought there was a connection between Gilgo and AC)This from a 2011article...

Police sources would not say what led authorities to link the New Jersey murder victims — Kim Raffo, Molly Jean Dilts, Barbara Breidor and Tracy Ann Roberts — to the first four in Long Island. But there were several common elements.

In each case, the killer dumped four prostitutes near water and in close proximity, tossing their remains off remote, desolate sections of highway. The bodies were in various stages of decomposition, suggesting he kept some for a period of time after they died.

All eight were low-level sex workers, and the four in New York used Craigslist. Each had been strangled.

He had removed the shoes from both sets of bodies, though the women in New Jersey were clothed. Those in Long Island had been stripped naked and were found without jewelry or belongings, each wrapped in burlap.

Eta: I think he would think it would be too risky to go back to AC for victims, if they're connected. Still, there's plenty of other options. JMVHO

Once again the rumor has emerged that a VERY high Suffolk official is going to be arrested sometime near the end of this month or shortly in the beginning of next month. If and when it happens you will know what I am talking about when you see it. IF it happens it will surely get your attention and I expect it will produce a lot of posting by the WE patrons. All we can do it to sit and wait to see if it happens.

There's going to be another show about the Long Island Serial Killer, 2 days after The Killing Season premieres:

PEOPLE MAGAZINE INVESTIGATES, a 10-part series, debuts with the two-hour season premiere of THE LONG ISLAND SERIAL KILLER on Monday, November 7 at 9/8c only on ID.

THE LOST GIRLS 9/8c
In 2010, a vivacious young escort, Shannan Gilbert, visits a client on the south shore of Long Island and vanishes under mysterious circumstances. Her disappearance leads police to the bodies of other victims buried along the shore. This discovery unleashes a wave of secrets, suspects, recriminations and conspiracy theories in the hunt for a serial killer who targets prostitutes, and who leaves behind a trail of grieving families determined to find justice.

NEW REVELATIONS 10/9c
The discovery of four women's bodies in the marshlands off Gilgo Beach was just the beginning. Authorities now believe the Long Island Serial Killer may be responsible for up to seventeen deaths over a twenty-year period. But who is the Long Island Serial Killer? Police have no shortage of theories, including multiple killers, corrupt cops, and wealthy sadists who kill for pleasure – but still no suspect. Their investigation leads us into the most sordid corners of this quiet beach community, revealing shocking secrets and twisted relationships, as they race to identify and capture this prolific killer before he strikes again.
