Casey Arrested on Fraud Related Charges

She dropped Amy off at the airport at 6ish PM on 7/8 and was writing checks to Target that same night? She must really have thought she scored big, rooting around in Amy's glove compartment and finding that checkbook.

According to that release they DO have receipts but they didn't release them to the public. My hunch is that what she purchased may be incriminating or something. I'm dying to know!!

There's another one that wasn't written, it was submitted electronically to AT&T for $574.

I asked this on another thread - if Casey used the internet to conduct her fraudulent activity, can she be charged with crimes on a federal level?

So I'm guessing if these are written from her own account, she probably wrote a check from Amy's checkbook for $700 or whatever the amount was in that account, to herself.. deposited it, then used that money to write checks.. sneaky.

However, why write a check to cash unless you don't have your bank card? Isn't it easier to use an ATM machine?

Easy, it takes banks a few days to catch up on checks, even when they do the security thing at the register. It just checks that there is enough in the account to cover that check. It is not aware of any other checks written in a short period of time. So she could have written all of those checks with only about $250 in her account. The final check to cash was probably cashed at a check cashing place.

Regardless that looks to be pretty close to the $700 that she lifted from Amy's account. If those checks did post with enough money in her account (because of Amy's money) would they still be considered as check fraud, just because the deposit supporting them was a fraudulent deposit?

Wow! I am soooo proud of Amy for having the courage to push forward with this. It has to be hard, based on what we know of Casey & the A family.

I am very grateful to Amy, too, and I hope despite all this that her life is going well, or soon will be.

None of these checks were from Casey Anthony checking account there were all on AMY H.

Hmmm. Casey is already looking at up to 17 years on the other related charges. Wonder how much more time could be tacked on with these new charges?

Second, it looks like all the charges are related to Amy pressing charges, as well as the stores and bank. I didn't see anything pursuant to the Grandmother. Did I miss something?

I doubt if Amy had much choice. That was her savings. The money she needed for rent etc. I'm sure Casey put her in rough financial straights. She had to report the check fraud in order to get her money back.

Wow, so if you read the affidavits, you will see that she wrote checks in person at the places listed in the previous post and the $574 was also out of Amy's account as well. And it says that Bank of America is also pressing charges as well, so I'm assuming that maybe those charges are the ones today? And Target too is pressing charges. I am blown away that she used her own license to use as identification and signed her own name, according to the affidavit.

I wonder if they're stacking and dragging out these charges to make Casey understand that OCS is, and will continue to be, in charge of this investigation in the hopes that Casey will finally provide some useful info.

I, too, am very curious about what she purchased in Target...remembering Scott Peterson's purchases just before Lacey disappeared.

What amazes me to a certain degree is Casey's willingness to sit in the OC jail for this length of time. In addition to lack of any kind of "stimulation" she's used to...talking on phone, internet, etc...I imagine she also went through some withdrawal (at least initially) if she were using drugs and alcohol on a regular basis. What do you think accounts for her silent acceptance of being in the county jail? Dissociative state?

She had to in order to get her money back. The 400 in cash however is gone. No way to get that back.

Didn't LE collect evidence from Casey's closet sometime last month? I recall there were "Mossimo" brand items...which is Target's brand of clothing.
I wonder now if that evidence was part of the fraud investigation.

The affidavits are found here. "Her personal checking account" is referring to Amy.

Do any of these places have security cameras? I know the bank does. Surely LE has checked those cameras to see if Caylee was with her on any of these dates.
