I don't think it will matter one bit as to weather the state pays for the defense or KC herself, she aint gettin out from under the death penelty....And I live in the Hoosier State and would be willing to send FL some tax money just to see this go to trial as a death penelty case..

Respecfully, Kimmer, you must be able to afford to say this because you don't live in Florida. Am I right? I say, as a Florida resident, she should now be required to accept one of our state's public defenders. She is not special. It will rip a new one in my heart if I have to fund JB and AL's expenses!!! I'm not being dramatic when I say there are a million other charities to which I would rather contribute!!!!! :furious:

If I am paying for her defense....do I get to offer my input? I mean I'm entitled to "protect my investment" right????

ClickOrlando website has the headline up, but is saying the story does not exist. Must be overloaded. :)

Anyway, before I run, a couple details: Andrea, who is working pro-bono, has been paid $22,500 for costs she incurred.

Baez has been paid $89,454, doesn't say what for, or where it came from.

All of this, paid for by CASEY. :furious:

.

BBM

Yes, paid for by Casey. This is the same 🤬🤬🤬 that went on shopping sprees with AH's money, because she (Casey) did not have any money. Casey has been in jail so she has not earned any money. This leaves little doubt that any monies paid out to Baez or Lyons was money from having exploited little two year old Caylee - the murder victim. Baez and Lyons have been paid with blood money, IMHO.

This is how I see it. I am infuriated and disgusted.

:furious:

Live exclusive on WKMG local 6!

Defense has been paid $111,954 so far

Is asking the the State pick up the tab on upcoming costs of defense.

Tony Pipitone has a GREAT exclusive, should be up on their website soon.

Gotta run to dinner.... more later!

They have gotten paid this much money and they haven't done a thing :furious:

Convicted murderers can not profit off of their crimes or their victims, well those charged with murder shouldn't be able to fund their defense with their victims photos/videos either. I know she has not been convicted, but there should be a law. If the defendant is found not guilty, they can do what ever...but a person charged with murder should not be able to do this. Florida, and other states, I hope will address this in the near future. If the outrage down there is what I think it will be, they had better address it.

If KC gets "accepted" as indigent, who oversees the expenditures the State would have to pay?

From the link:..............Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Anthony has already paid Baez and death penalty expert Andrea Lyon $111,954, but Baez said that is not enough to give Anthony the defense she needs, and taxpayers should make up the difference.

Baez said Anthony, 23, was willing to pay for her defense until the state put the death penalty back on the table, making her unable to cover the expense........

The Anthony's have paid over $100,000 to Baez already?
Guess that explains the defaulted mortgage hey? ;)

What does the part I bolded mean? It's such an illogical statement. Either you can pay or you can't. The word *willing* implies that she has the means but rejects paying on some moral grounds. She should pay every bit as much as she has!

The defense has been waiting on this so that they can begin their depositions, at the expense of the state of Florida. This case has provided new lows in almost every area I can think of, precedent setting lows. OK, enough I need a break.

I actually think KC would have been better off with a public defender rather than Baez. Public defenders get lots and lots of experience. I do agree the taxpayers of Florida should not have to pay for Andrea Lyon's expert service though. KC should at least find a death penalty lawyer from Florida to represent her, like Terry Lenamon, or rather someone in Orange County. It's a big county, right? She can't be the only person there that has needed to defend herself against the death penalty.

I'd be real curious to see some tax returns..specifically GA & CA and KC's. If she's paying then she has income, right? Doesn't she have to claim it?

One curious note is that Baez's "fees" are not included in the motion. That sends off my hinky meter. How will he be paid if Casey is indigent? KWIM??? He'll need a boatload of new suits and ties with matching silk handkerchiefs to keep up his public persona.

Will he still be required to open the books he managed to keep shut at last March's hearing?

What fresh hell is this?????

"Uh, well, there wasn't a death penalty-worthy attorney here in the State I wanted to pass this case off to, so instead hired this lady from out of State to sit first chair for me, and now, well.......I'd like the State of FL to pay."

I don't even live near FL and my bottom feels the ......well, I'm sure you all know what I mean.

I seriously doubt any DP qualified attorney in FL wanted the case, frankly. TL turned it down, and given the scope of the brief he put together for the state initially, (which looked to me like a high school scrapbook project), I doubt he was paid much the first time.

AL takes about $60K a year supposedly in salary, which means she is not necessarily in it for the money, so I imagine she's the closest JB can get to pro bono - that $22K and change she has received from defense funds is probably for the travel expenses and paying MS to take that depo - I'm sure she has used her staff at the org she runs and lots of grad students to make up what the labor would have cost (because you know that anyone taking on this case would have to start from scratch given JB's sloppiness and record).

Don't think JB could have gotten this much expert advice and time for $22K in FL, so I don't think it's as relevant to the taxpayers as the fact that JB didn't do the smart thing and plea her out, but let her get charged with murder so she could sit in jail on the taxpayer's dime for a year and a half eating junk food from donated funds that cost what some people pay for groceries for a year. JB's continuous delays were more about yachting with Geraldo than scaring up money for a decent defense, imo.

No attorney fees would be given, they will continue to do this pro bono, IMO. ALyons received $22,500 which covered costs, she is pro bono as well. I'd like to know where all that $111,000+ went to, how did Baez spend it? He hasn't even scratched the surface of any from of defense of KC, IMO. What did he do to earn/spend over $90,000 himself???

And you are all right, all this on Caylee's blood! :furious: I'm furious this is a horrible message being sent. Too bad the Son of Sam law doesn't include while the accused stands trial, after she's convicted of Caylee's crime no one, no one in that family will profit..that I will be grateful for. IIRC, DBerkowitz took his attorney to court and used The SOSL(the law named after him)against his attorney and I believe an amendment made to include attorney(s), family members cannot profit as well..

Oh and meant to add, he'll have to just take the suits he has now and get them cleaned, he'll be on strict budget...LMAO

I am guessing it is part of the law that says if she has a private attorney and not a public defender that only expenses will be paid by the state not fees.
The news article linked above stated this: "If Strickland signs the order, Florida taxpayers will pick up the bill for the defense costs, but not the defense fees."

So, if Jose hangs in there, it will just be for publicity and experience??? I am a small business owner and I know I can't take jobs for free. The only way would be for some really GOOD publicity. I don't think Jose is getting that from this case.

If the state is required to provide legal representation for everyone that is charged by the state would they not also extend that to having someone who is "death penalty qualified" in their pool of public defenders?

If this is so, looks like GA LIED when he said he wouldn't lose "Caylee's" house. Let's see... that would mean KC FIRST, Caylee last! UGH!
