What do you mean? I thought we know that Baez got the 90k and Lyon got the 22k. Whatever it went to - they got that money right? I'm not sure what you mean...and it certainly came from something involving selling pics or something, since we know Casey had no means of her own before the case began...

Well I think it goes like this. JB draws out the fraud trial to the very last minute and if KC did actually get $225,000 for Caylee's pictures the rest of the money went to JB to pay for the fraud trial. So instead of $90,000, it was probably more like $200,000 total. That is if KC actually did receive the $225,000. It didn't go for Cheetos. JMO

According to the Defense documents he has been paid the princely sum of $88445.83 so far.

Or $88445.00 over the value of services rendered. Plus or minus 80¢.

Not quite. We know what Baez was paid or is claiming to have been paid for the MURDER case ONLY.

The check fraud case is an entirely seperate manner. If what I read on a few sites (Including Mr Hornsby's wonderful comentary) is correct. Then since final sentancing had passed 30 days for KC's check fraud conviction, then JB would no longer be considered the active attorney of record for that case. As a result any monies paid by KC to JB for the check fraud case did not have to be reported to the court or the public in the filing of indigency.

I am saying that it seems a little hinky that the defense waited until that 30 days past final adjudication before they filed for indigency. In that way JB could have been paid another $100k for the check fraud case and noone would ever need to know. (and I mention this only because there have long been rumors that the amounts paid for Caylee pics and video's totalled about $200k.)

I saw a copy of Casey's affidavit today. She alleges Baez was paid zero for the check fraud case. What is really sketchy about the affidavit is that Casey lists herself as the "source" of the funds.

Ha! Casey lists her address as Hopespring Drive, Orlando. I would prefer it show her current address of County Jail, Orlando!!

She has the handwriting of a serial killer, IMO!!

Good eye, RH - that case # slipped by me! :)

But I wonder why she shows Andrea as N/A for any other cases, even though Andrea was there for the fraud case?

Casey had to have been coached on how to fill these out, she didn't do it by herself. And there must a reason for the way she filled them out, I assume?

I guess we know now why JB could not wipe the smile off his face. Month after month after month of stalling, not having those experts check the evidence, not doing depositions, etc. so that Florida would have to pay in the end for all the work he should have been doing for a year and a half. But he got his money didn't he. No wonder he had to go to an Ethics Attorney. JMO

How can this be considering her application clearly states she has had 0 zero income?

After 30 days....it becomes a non-issue. They waited that long to file this new motion.

Don't know if this was mentioned yet...I just read the application. On the application KC clearly claims "0" for dependents. So I guess she admits/recognizes that Caylee is no longer alive. Kind of contradicts the family claim of it wasn't Caylee we had cremated, had a service for, etc...

Thanks Sleuther! RH did explain that to me once already.....I'm letting the steam in my ears affect my common senses.

Well, butter my butt and call me a bisquit - that's just, just wrong. Legal yeah, but still wrong. She goes from indigent on July 16, 2008 to not on July 17, 2008, claims to have made no income (uh yeah, she's in the pokey) yet for well over a year now, the defense has danced around and never acknowledged acceptance of that ABC cash, YET claims expenses for AL and almost $90,000 paid to Baez....from KC....the one in the pokey. I suppose she poops twizzlers calls them Benjamins to the tune of $112,000 huh...

Ok, I'm fhrushtrated...time to take a break for this gal.

If Casey is declared indigent, how will this effect her legal representation in the civil suit? Can she ask for a public defender for a civil suit?

Sorry if this has been addressed, and I know the attorneys will give the proper legal answers, but I must ask-If KC needs help with the civil case, shouldn't her first point of order be to drop the countersuit?

That sat with me badly for a moment....do not like thinking of parents (KC aside) having to reduce numbers on their yearly forms to account for children that have been murdered or died. Small but sad reminder.
TurboTax has a question about dependents, with a checkbox for people whose children have been kidnapped. Gave me the same feeling.

On this amount-Do we know if anyone prepared an income tax return for this payment? Perhaps ABC paid out $200K after taxes, but I hafta think someone owed the tax money, and even if ABC paid the taxes, KC still needs to file a return, no?

Yeah, but what consequences does Casey have to fear by not paying taxes?

That's what I'm not getting...I hope Judge S. raises an eyebrow on this. I mean 100k is a BIG chunk of change, and we know this came from profits from Caylee's pics or something similar (that's sick enough on its own). Meanwhile she had signed a form that said she was not in talks with people to sell her story - but this is the same thing imo. I think RH said this entire case should be around 100k.

Then Lyon gets 22k for travel expense - I don't get that either - did she go on 10 vacations to europe and back or what? It is so obvious to me that they are gaming the system. I can't possibly believe that the indigent status was set up to benefit a person in Casey's situation.

Furthermore, I'm just not seeing what is so complex about this case. Granted it's circumstantial and I can see a 'battle of the experts' brewing...but there seems to be a diversity of evidence that points only to Casey...

Nobody shoot me, but what if she sold tapes that are not exactly PG?

Just asking.......

Not only does she have to claim proceeds from the sale of pictures and videos to the IRS, but it is also considered as income. Therefore taxable at say the 30% rate. I hope the IRS, comes after her.

I would be surprised if this payment was handled any different than the payment to CA/GA. Apparently, taxes were not withheld, nor did the network pay them as CA stated in an interview that $XX of the $20,000 was for taxes and $XX was MN fee, only leaving her $xx.

I agree. In cases like this....you are issued a 1099.
