Casey seeing clergy in jail

  • #161
Do we know if she requested this visit? any way to know this???/
~Respectfully snipped~

FWIW- our church has a prison/jail ministry. A group of peolple provide a weekly church service at the local county jail for a group of men and a seperate group of women. There is also a group that go at different times to answer the Kites (requests) from inmates to have someone speak to them individually or send them a bible or literature. Then there is a group that goes into the single-cell area and walks from cell to cell asking if anyone would like to talk to someone.

I know if they are pulled out of their tank or cell it is noted on their record. If someone goes to their cell and speaks to them through the feeder port- there is no record.

Usually, the jail/detention center would have a member of the clergy on payroll to counsel inmates. Clergy would not stand in the hall and speak to an inmate talking about a sensitive issue, IMO. You are right. Casey could do a special request to the warden or jail administrator to speak in private with her minister. This minister could tell the Anthony's anything Casey asked him to tell her family verbally, but any written communications would have to go through regular mail.

Remember that Stacy Peterson's minister came forward with information that he had been counseling Stacy and had also given information as to what she had told him. He was on Nancy Grace telling about this, IIRC.

I wonder if Casey's minister visitor is the one who lives in the Anthony's neighborhood? I rather doubt he will be repeating anything Casey tells him. I doubt she would tell him anything of consequence anyway.

**I am so sorry for your loss, mamaneecy. GB you and your family.

Question for the posters that have worked in jails/prisons (or anyone else that may know the answer): If KC is having a hard time in there physically, emotionally, whatever, could the clergy (or a doctor) arrange it so that she gets some sort of relief in there (not sure what that would look like) - hope that makes sense.

I studied the Bible on "HELL" ... and "burning for eternity" ... and the actual meaning of 'eternal' in this sense, is not for all time, but once and for all.

As in ... when you burn a branch, it burns for an alloted time, then is ashes, it doesn't sit there and burn forever. But when it's done burning, the branch is 'forever' burned ... never to be a live branch again. This is what God meant here .. and thank goodness. He would never have sinners burn forever ... just that they will be destroyed forever. Hope that makes more sense. :)

And to help you feel better, the act of destroying sinners (those he loves and will forever love, but chose not to follow him) will be the hardest thing he'll ever have to do, it will be a very 'unnatural' act for him, since he is love. He's doing that for those who do follow him ... so that sin will never again be or exist. ... to cleanse the universe of sin forever.

Not trying to preach here ... just sharing.

Sorry don't believe in the Bible either. For that matter I dont believe in Clergy, priests, etc. But I completely respect everyones right to believe in anything they choose.

Spiritual not Religious. Big Difference.

GetSmart: Child this is not your concern nor your job at this time. It is mine. There are some of my children that turned from me & turned a deaf ear to me.. those are the ones that I lift my spirit from. But that is my worry not yours. How do you think I felt when I watched them murder my own son and he asked for their forgiveness. Put in my hands & leave it there.
AND I DID... I hope this helps.. It sure did help me.

Thank you GetSmart it does help. And I do get it, completely; and recognize the sound of my Father's voice... JMHUO

Prego: Just because you are saved or have God in your life, God still makes you reep what you sow. You must still answer for what you've done and if you truely are seeking HIS way, then you accept that punishment humbly and know you deserve it.

ITA The principle of sowing and reaping is still in effect!

100%: I believe that the bible is a history book for the most part. It is a collection of stories told to make various points. Some of what is in the bible makes sense to me and some do not. Some things contradict each other and leave you to either take your preachers opinion or form you own. I have formed my own. Some things just simply do not apply to the world today...

Does that mean that I pass judgement on other people. Yes because God or whatever higher being there is made me a thinking person. Someone who has the ability to gather facts and make an informed decision. I do not believe that he wants us to blindly follow without conscious thought and without questioning what is rational and what is not. If he did, he would have made us all brainless idiots and we would still be living in caves.

One last thought. Since I am responsible for my own thoughts, feelings, and actions, if one day I must stand before God and be judge, then if I do not feel nor offer mercy to KC, I am willing to take that stand before God. If God wishes to offer her his mercy, then he may do so...

The principles, and wisdom (or skills for living) contained in God's Word are timeless. I would not advise that anyone ever, ever simply take a "preacher's word," for anything. But what need would God have of our permission anyway once we've effectively both done His job and nullified His Word. Your argument isn't with me but with God, and His sovereign inerrant Word.

LeLe:If you to stay mad as hell, you do that.

I am very sorry Mama for such a heartbreaking loss. I have a 20 year-old daughter (among four children) and two year-old granddaughter and as I've followed this case I've seen many parallels, and not known whether I could ever bear the pain of this whole nightmare. But I have endured many other tragic losses, and I guess this would not be quite the comfort or counsel I personally would offer to you or to anyone who has endured the loss of their beloved grandchild. (Forgiveness is afterall intended not for the benefit of the one forgiven but ultimately because this frees the one who forgives from a lifetime of the bondage and torment of hatred and bitterness which keeps us a victim, and makes it harder for us to receive the comfort God indeed longs to give us.) I, too pray for the victims, especially the innocent and defenseless. I just have tried to avoid a rush to judgment in this case, trying generally to trust or leave that part to God ((((hug))))

RR: (and just when I was gonna say that religion is very personal and may best be left out of discussion...but that's JMHO)

Sorry if OT, I thought this thread was re clergy topic and saw others offering opinions re KC's possible confession, condemnation etc. JMHO

Clergy: just another opportunity for Casey to seduce & manipulate someone to her advantage. No one else at this point wants anything to do w/her, she is no better than a pariah or untouchable. :furious:

I agree, most counties probably do have a clergyman on staff to counsel inmates. In my post I referenced what I know from personal involvement. The county I referred to has a jail population of around 7600 at more than one loction. It is the 7th largest jail system in the nation. One person would be unable to meet the needs of all the inmates. The jail relies on volunteers from the surrounding area to assist with this. Every faith is represented. The volunteers must fill out an application and pass a background check and have verifiable references before they are allowed in the jail.

And on occasion there are inmates willing to speak about very serious and very sensitive matters. In my experience it is the inmates who have not denied involvement in the crime they are accused of. A common question from these inmates is if God can forgive them.

I am demonstrating the multiple quote function for those of you that may want to use it. I have selected the above quotes purely at random.
Here are directions for those of you that would like to take advantage of it

Gee I hope not. Prison is supposed to be difficult physically & emotionally.

Yes, you would hope if she became uncomfortable enough, she would finally talk. But given KC's manipulative nature and her ability to land on her feet, I was wondering if she could arrange for some sort of relief.

Zadari and Momto5 Thank you. I am not very religious but I do have great faith and I pray every single day for the peace to get through yet another day. Most of all- I pray for justice for all the abused and angel children.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you peace.

I'm sorry...I thought otherwise... I thought it initially started as "Clergy visits", but it does seem to have grown. Religion, like politics can make for very heated discussions. Then I saw that very insightful post and said...wow.
I just don't want to see anyone get hurt.

I thought people had to attend church to have a minister. Is there ANY EVIDENCE that Casey EVER attended church? She sure didn't when she was on house arrest. I would imagine prior to that she was stayiing with oen of many men and didn't bother. I sincerely don't believe that Casey has "her minister." I suspect this is someone that Cindy sent to talk to her since Casey won't talk to her parents.
