I just signed in and read the messages from yesterday. Here are some thoughts from an old lady that I have learned from 60 years of walking this earth. When there seems to be contradictions in the Bible, it just means that I need to do a little more study. At first, I was troubled about the seeming contradiction between "Thou shalt not kill" and "an eye for an eye."
Further study showed me that many teachings are for me as an individual: I should not kill, I should not lie, I should not steal, etc. And in a perfect world, if nobody broke these commandments, there would be no need for "governmental" laws.
However, since all of us sin and break commandments, then more laws were given to Moses to "govern" the million or more children of Israel as he lead them out of Egypt. That's why there are penalties when we as individuals infringe on the rights of others. And those penalties were quite detailed for Moses in Exodus, Leviticus, etc.
I'll stop here, but feel free to email me at
[email protected] if you would like to agree or disagree.
Since KC didn't govern herself, there is a need for her to now be governed to the full extent of the law.
Our loving Father loves the sinner, but hates the sin committed.
He extends forgiveness to anyone who confesses their sin and also repents of it (stops committing the sin). Just confessing doesn't cut it.
He loves us enough to let us take punishment on earth for our sins committed, also. He is our Father but not a 'sugar daddy', or a blank check.
I still have more to learn!
