We've had similar things happen with some cats over the years. Try numerous solutions to get desperate, stranded cat down, cat won't or can't quite bring itself to do its part in the scheme ... then finally self-rescues.

When my daughter was little, one of her favorite books was titled Kittens Are Like That. And, well -- cats are like that!
