Catherine O'Hara, the virtuosic comedic actor best known for her performances in the Christmas classic "Home Alone," the mockumentary "Best in Show" and the cult-hit sitcom "Schitt's Creek," died Friday, according to her manager.

She was 71. Marc Gurvitz, her manager, did not specify a cause of death...

Emmy-winning actor known for comedic roles across the decades — from Kevin's beleaguered mom in “Home Alone” to the iconic Moira Rose in “Schitt's Creek” — died Friday at 71.

The Canadian-born O'Hara died at her home in Los Angeles “following a brief illness,” according to a statement from her agency, Creative Artists Agency. Further details were not immediately available...

I remember her from SCTV.

An interesting fact is that O'Hara joined the Saturday Night Live cast but when she found out SCTV was going to be renewed she left to go back to SCTV. Robin Duke (who also appeared on SCTV) took her spot on SNL.

I am incredibly saddened by the passing of Catherine O'Hara

Her incredible talents were legendary and she always had such a fresh and snappy presence.

I always looked forward to anything she was playing in. Bettlejuice, of course. Home Alone, most definitely, Schitt's Creek- so wry and goofy and goddamm smart at the same time.

I'm just stunned. My heart hurts for her loss, and my greatest condolences to her family, her many many friends and colleagues, and her fans worldwide.

Oh this is really hard and unwelcome news.

She was one of the most adorably likeable actresses in whatever she did. That takes serious skill to have that presence - no matter how small - that she always so vividly did.

Such a sad loss. RIP to her and condolances to her family and friends. ❤️

If you scroll down to her last appearance, in the black dress, she doesn’t look well at all.

But maybe I just think so in hindsight?

I’m really going to miss her.

If you ever get a chance to binge on SCTV- do it!!
I'm old enough to have watched it AFTER SNL on Saturday nights, and it was brilliant. Unfortunately, it's not streaming anywhere due to some music permissions issues. The DVDs are hard to come by since the John Candy doc was released.
Her early work and characters on SCTV are just a treasure.
May her memory be a blessing.
