Cause of death

Not necessarily. Head wounds are a funny thing, especially if shock is involved.

Nicely put.

A few. I'm not sure there's anyone who thinks it was several hours. I think that the cover-up DID begin quickly, perhaps within 20 minutes.

I'm so suddenly torn on this. Wouldn't a freaked-out Patsy need way more than 20 minutes to: 1) realize JBR was unconscious and fatally wounded, 2) hatch this horrible plan, 3) gather the garroting materials and 4) begin the strangulation? I mean, wouldn't Patsy have taken at least 20 minutes to roll around on the floor, cry to Lazarus, and freak completely out? Even an hour! To think that JBR went from a headwound (which could have been an accident) to a slow, deliberate strangulation in one hour pushes the RDI theory a bit for me. How does a parent (who in this scenario commited an accidental fatal wound on a child) move from anger to shock to a sick cover-up involving a garrote in ONE HOUR'S TIME?

And meanwhile, JB's just lying there? Some people feel compelled to do something in a crunch.

20 minutes is a conservative estimate.

Me, too. That's why I don't think it was quite like that.

I guess it would depend on whether she had to go it alone.

Yep....I think something went wrong and it's related to abuse. The RN was written in order to divert attention from it and point the finger at someone else. She was wiped down and redressed because someone was hoping the sexual assault won't be noticed. The ligature was used maybe to cover some other marks around her neck.I don't see where the head bash fits though...

How can the head bash be an accident if she was hit with an object? If I understand correctly that's what the wound tells us,she didn't fell or something and hit her head ,right?

If it's FACT that she was hit with something (?) then IMO we can't talk about accidents anymore.

Keep in mind, madeleine, that when we say "accident," we mean that the person struck without thinking. Also, forget falling. What if she was thrown like a missile?

That doesn't leave much in the way of terms.
