Why would LE be concerned right away about the car? The Anthony family was claiming that Caylee had been kidnapped. They spent the next day driving Casey around on a wild goose chase. Did LE even look at the car right away?

And yet the evidence does show that Casey harmed Caylee but George and Cindy have done nothing but be supportive--in public--of their daughter's ridiculous abduction story--not to mention washing the pants and the conflicting statements about the gas cans. Why apparently work against LE in these instances? Why not just leave the freaking pants and make it clear about the gas cans? It just doesn't jibe. I realize you feel sympathetic toward them--and I do as well--but I can't whitewash these instances. JMO.

What evidence?
I’m not asking about what has been reported (in the media)...
Have you actually seen the police reports?
Also... Cindy stated that she did NOT know the pants
would be needed as possible evidence at the time she washed them.

Most of what we know is what has been reported in the media
and IMO they don't always get their facts straight!

I do not see Cindy or George doing anything sinister other than holding out
hope that Caylee is alive and IMO that may cloud their judgment of their
daughter but I don't fault them for holding out hope!

I think they may have used the word decomposition. They would never have said what Cindy said.
what I mean is the only report of the smell came from Cindy and perhaps george.

I don't think the car smelled all that bad as one of the lE said he had to actually set in the car before the odor was detected.

Where was that stated? First I've heard of that.

Ok I gotta know. Its a dumb question but driving me crazy What is LE, I knows something to do with police. But what does it stand for?

I really don't think their minds wrapped around the idea that the cadaver smell, pants, gas cans and their missing granddaughter were in any way related. It seems obvious to us -- we're always prepared for a murder on here, but that's probably just not where anyone's family's mind would go initially. I mean, it's not as if they had ever considered that Casey would kill Caylee, or that Caylee could be dead, just like that.

The only thing that has really bothered me about their actions is leaving the incorrect missing date and an incorrect phone number on the web site for quite a while after they knew of the error. I just don't get it.

But think about it racegirl. The very moment they come to terms with the fact that their daughter is indeed lying is the very moment the must realize there is little to no hope for Caylee.
As long as they do not impair the investigation, which I do not belive they have done at all, then let them have their hope,
They want to believe Casey for many reasons, but soon enough they wil have to accept that she is what she always has been.. a liar.

I know this is farfetched but what IF Casey is really telling the truth? What if Casey is not forthcoming because she believes Caylee or the family will be placed in peril if she tells all she knows? If Cindy and George even believe her a little bit they have to support her, to do anything else would be permanently burning their bridge not only with her but with any future visits with Caylee.

Like you, I don't see anything they've done knowingly to hamper the investigation. What they say to the media (to us) means nothing, it's what they tell the police that matters, and the police say the Anthonys are being very cooperative.

I completely agree RR. I think George and Cindy have had a heck of a lot of carp dumped on them that it is rather ill deserved.
I offer them support and hope so that they can find the answers about caylee.

I offer them my support also as I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. I hope I never have to walk in their shoes. I keep praying every day for Caylee to be returned home safe and well to her grand parents.

....and the dogs, don't forget that the dogs 'hit' on the trunk too.....

What about the detective at the bond hearing? Didn't he testify about the odor?

Thanks, it was driving me nuts!

And didn't LE testify at the bond hearing about the smell of decomp?

Thanks for your help

I think the dogs are one of the main keys to this puzzle that makes the public think Casey is guilty.....

Okay...RR...I just have to ask...where do you think Caylee is?

Think about what you just said CW. You don't even know these people, yet there is a tiny part of you that hopes Casey is telling the truth where it counts.
Now imagine if she was your daughter and your granddaughter's life hung in the balance.
How could you not hope this time might be the time?
Easy for us to see it more clearly. or not.

So if you could ask just one question from George and Cindy what would it be? (It has to be from a perspective of trying to help)

  • #320
Only Ciindy said it as far as I know.
I have never read anywhere that any officer in any report confirmed that the car smelled like a dead body. Moreover, the posters here have made it very clear that the smell does not go away soon.
Maybe it did, maybe it didn't..don't know.

From the bond hearing:

Orange County Sheriff's Detective Yuri Melich said a car driven by Casey Anthony smelled of decomposition when investigators recovered it. "I was a homicide detective for two years with the Orange County Sheriff's Office. From my experience, the smell that I smelled inside that car was the smell of decomposition," he said.
