Caylee's Funeral

Caylee's funeral was 'delayed' for 10 days while the ME performed the first autopsy on behalf of the SA/LE for the purposes of the prosecution. The defence is also entitled to conduct their own autopsy and to review the ME's findings and so I don't see how a 'delay' caused by them doing what they must do on behalf of their client is any different from the 'delay' already caused by the ME doing what she had to do for the prosecution. Also I think it would be somewhat unreasonable to expect the defence forensic team to travel to FL and work during their Xmas break, especially if they are indeed offering their services pro bono.

There is NOTHING to do but X-Ray the bones. This is not like an autopsy with organs to dissect and test. The ME "delayed" releasing the results because the crime scene was still being investigated and more bones were showing up daily.

There are all the X-Rays the ME took which show there is nothing for the defense there. This is a ruse.

I personally don't think there will be a second "autopsy" because there is nothing to do. I believe the defense experts have looked over what is there and told Baez to go with that.

I believe Baez is out of money and that is why there is nothing being done by him, and the A's are stalling to keep LE from charging them until their lawyer can try to get some immunity. I don't think any immunity will be forthcoming.

I think Cindy is still shopping for a magazine in order to sell the photo rights for Caylee's funeral, that's my guess as to why the services have been put on hold. But then, I'm pretty fed up with the Anthony family. So it's easy for me to see the negative.
jmo

That I had not thought about, but it is very likely. ET would not touch it, so wonder who they are shopping? If they are charged first, they would not be able to make any money until the charges were resolved, so they are holding off until the deal is made.

They make me sick, but there is no reason to think they would bury that baby in reasonable amount of time when in my opinion they KNEW where her body was laying rotting before.

As it has been from Day 1 - money is an issue here . funeral homes expect payment
for services rendered .

They are probably taking advice from their new attorney...honestly, I think they will move forward with the funeral as soon as practical.

The thought of that baby in the morgue is heartbreaking..

Almost anyone would move forward and bury their grandchild. But this is the Anthony Family. They had no problem leaving Caylee to rot in the woods for months while they covered and coddled their daughter.

IIRC Casey is still Caylee's legal guardian (mother) and she had to sign the papers for Caylee's remains to be released to the funeral home, so the delay is not so much the A's fault, and I had also read that the funeral would be after the Holidays.

Not according to the As who have already publicly stated they will use donated funds for her funeral etc and give the leftover donations to a missing children organization.

Yes, but don't they also expect payment for each day the funeral is delayed? They are holding the remains.
IMO

The papers were signed and the remains released to the funeral home before Christmas.

True, but KC does not benefit from the delay. She needs to look like a caring mother. Who benefits from the delay? GA, CA and LA. They are the holdup-not KC. It's not like the funeral director can stop by the jail and offer her coffin selections and ask her what music she wants played. GA, CA and LA are responsible for this one.

A lot of people and company's are closed from 24th Dec to the 5th Jan, I would expect to hear some thing this coming week on whether or not there will be an autopsy and then when the memorial/funeral will be.

George and Cindy are not talking or visiting Casey, therefore it would seem to me that Baez would be in the middle of this, as much as I dislike the A's I can find no fault on their part, as I said they are out of the loop, maybe they should get custody of Caylee's remains so they can move quicker, but until then I can not fault them on this.

I'm wondering if the 2nd exam has already been performed at the funeral home and they are just waiting for the pictures and x-rays? I guess it would be up to the defense to choose if they wanted the 2nd exam at the funeral home or private lab.
But, many 2nd opinion complete autopsies are done in the funeral homes "prep" rooms.

It has been reported that KC signed over the "rights" to Cindy, so the balls in her court.

Death is a 365 day a year thing sadly and those that deal with it don't shut down for 2 weeks for holidays. Funeral parlors, doctors etc must keep working.

When the SA wanted to delay, it was JB who wrote him and said he wanted it done asap so the As could bury her. If he couldn't have his experts examine her before Jan. 5th, then I doubt he would have written that letter.

Yup, and this maybe the family's last chance to "cash in" so they will take their time. They will shop magazines, throw a couple more fundraisers, sell some photos/videos, and give an exclusive interview or 2 b/f their arrest. These things cannot be done from jail and they will be paid a higher price if they keep quiet for a while. Sitting on their hands for a couple of weeks could be quite lucrative for this family. Sure beats the alternative.

You are so right about that, bunny! My husband is a funeral director here in NJ, and the only time he was off was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. And that was only because someone else was covering the funeral home.

Yes they were.... BUT Geroge and Cindy can't do anything with them
UNTIL Casey gives permission!

It's really not that hard to understand if you have ever had to burry
a person!

The legal guardian/ next of kin needs to make the plans and in this case
that is still Casey....like it or not she has not been found guilty and is still the
next of kin!

I don't see why we have to keep saying Geroge and Cindy are holding off....
Its not them it's the defense and Casey!

That delay was because Caylee was a victim of homicide. When you lie to police and they find your child's body in the local woods, that can happen. The Anthony's have delayed her funeral since June 15th or 16th....enough is enough.

No, the delay was to determine the cause and manner of death. The ME's opinion is that the manner of death was homicide and KC is the person accused of committing that crime. For justice to be properly served, she is entitled to defend herself against that charge and to challenge not only the prosecution's evidence against her but also the ME's opinion as to the manner of death. If you were accused of any crime, would you not wish to have such rights?

As to the A's having delayed the funeral since June 15/16, there is no evidence as yet that suggests they knew Caylee was dead before Dec.11 (although they must have feared it), and they certainly couldn't have known on June 15/16 because they didn't discover she was missing until July 15! :frown:

If you read JBs letter to the SA just before Xmas, you will see that he says he wants it done quickly so the As can bury her. Are you saying you think Casey is not allowing a funeral to be held?

Did you read Cindy's myspace entry of July 3rd? And are you saying Casey didn't know she was dead til dec. 11th? Because in my opinion, had Casey been honest, Caylee would have been buried in the week following her death, and last time I checked she was an Anthony.

Of course she can defend herself...but if the autopsy is done and they are only holding off to make more money before they are charged, what does that have to do with Casey's rights to a fair trial???
