I have to agree with the last 2 posters. Let's keep the dangerous ones in prison and let the nonviolent offenders with lesser crimes do community service. Prisons are overcrowded anyway.

I just don't understand how he could be so dumb or arrogant (just like Wesley Snipes) to not pay his taxes. You can't fight the IRS. You'll lose every time.

But I do agree that as defense attorneys go, I like him. Too bad it's not Mark Geragos.

I agree Nancy.

They should not allot jail time to these people. Give them community service. This is a victimless crime and our jails are already overcrowded and we need room for our criminals. Doing community service might humble some of these people plus serve our communties well.

Not paying taxes is something I find hard to understand. Just pay your taxes. There is no excuse not to pay them.

This is unfortunate - mostly because Mickey is the only defense attorney I feel is a decent human being.

If the IRS wants their money, they aren't going to get it any faster locking people up so that they cannot work. That's the problem I have with it - they fine the heck out of a person and add interest like crazy and then don't allow a person to pay it off sooner because they have to do time.

This should not be a jailable offense.

I think the IRS likes it when they catch a celebrity not paying taxes. They can then send them to jail and send out a great big lesson to us "little people" - causing us to think "Oh, wow! If a famous lawyer like Mickey Sherman got sent to jail, I would surely get sent to jail if I cheated on my taxes. So I won't."
