Right. I just don't see 'sex' that day as a motivation for her. Hey, you ladies would know better than me anyway.

Plus it was her 2nd trip over... just doesn't seem likely to me.

I do agree that it is possible his wife could have caught them together and had a fit of anger, resentment, and rage.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but again, I just don't think she went there twice that day. that idea came from what Cesar alleged told Christina, who then told the police. IIRC neither the DA nor the defense have ever mentioned her going to the house more than once on the 14th. Two visits is nearly impossible given the established timeline.

Hey Snowshuze!! WOW you really think so?? I can't hear today - no speakers at werk. Was it that passionate? Don't you think the jury will take SOME time to review evidence? I hope you are right of course!!! How is the baby by the way?

Thanks, panthera! I type slowly and cannot listen and type as well as you! You are doing a great job!

There was no passion when the State was presenting the facts of the case, but ADA Lee has made up for it.

Now I am looking forward to seeing how many rabbits McNeil can pull out of a hat! (just MOO)

He put EVERYTHING together, and told Marias story. I'm so grateful.
He came right out of the gate being very passionate for Maria and her unborn baby. I was actually surprised after the little emotion shown before but this was quite different!

He strung everything together, IMO. AND precipitated the argument the defense will make concerning Christina. I think the jury has already seen plenty of evidence <passed through the jury box>, and it MAY be a cursory look through to verify.

O/T Pie is growing like a weed, and is about to turn loose and take some steps.

McNeil beginning his closing argument, stating he has one argument because the burden of proof is on the state. Mentions Cesar's family in the courtroom. Was not intending to be disrespectful to Maria's memory by what he brought out during trial (re: her character). Base verdict on facts, or lack of them, not emotions. As jurors they must be fully satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt before convcting on any offense.

Bringing up that lil part about CL being her NCOIC MAY come back to bite him.

I am not really impressed with McNeil so far. Just me, tho.

After 7 month investigation charges were never brought...ummmmm maybe because she was killed before the investigation was OVER?

  • #657
Maybe it WASN'T clear <at the time> he was not the father.

Witnesses seeing them together may not be correct.
THIS I can agree with.

McNeil: State must prove beyond reasonable doubt that Cesar was the one who killed Maria and did so with premeditation. Going over Cesar's stellar record as a Marine. Reminding jury he was married. Cesar was told to be Maria's supervisor in 02/07 and was supposed to cousel Maria. Going over Maria's report of sexual assault by Cesar. He denied the allegations and USMC issued MPO. No evidence MPO ever violated by either party. Going over Maria's report of pregnancy and father was Cesar. No charges brought against Cesar by USMC. Going over testimony by midwife and conception date. Maria must have known she wasn't telling truth about who the father of baby was; why did she make the allegation against Cesar? False allegation. Going over state's theory of an ongoing relationship between Cesar & Maria. Believes Pamela Chavis and Strong are incorrect about seeing C/M together; contradicts what Cesar would've been doing in MC that week on rifle range. Strong is incorrect because MPO was in place; not one piece of evidence linking communication between C/M. No e-mail, text, cell phone use. How did they ever plan to meet at all?
