NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The disappearance of a Tyler County resident was at a standstill until Oct. 24, when a sonar-searching recovery dive team stepped in to help at the family’s request.
The missing veteran, 72-year-old Thomas Thornton, was last seen on surveillance footage from a Hemphill gas station on March 26. The family had been concerned from the beginning, since he reportedly was reliant upon medication and suffered from some level of mental incapacity.
Seven months later, a specialized dive team stepped in to assist.
Jacob Grubbs is the lead diver for Chaos Divers, a group that searches for vehicles to work on cold cases with the dual mission of bringing home lost loved ones and cleaning out river systems of gas and oils from vehicles.
