Anne Arundel County Police Renew Call For Information In Cold Case Murder Of Charles Edward Crusoe
Sept 19 2020
''PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) —
Police in Anne Arundel County are renewing their call for help from the public in solving the cold case murder of Charles Edward Crusoe.

Police say Crusoe, 25, was found murdered around 4:30 p.m. in Pasadena on February 2, 1974.

When detectives arrived on the scene, they were met by a 14-year-old boy who had said that he had found a body down a dirt path.

The boy took detectives to a wooded area off of Bayside Beach Road where they found Crusoe. He was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and was classified as a homicide.

The victim was last seen by his girlfriend on January 24, 1974, in Washington D.C. when he left his residence that morning for work. She then reported him missing on January 25, 1974.

His vehicle was found on February 4, 1974, in Los Angeles, California.

Crusoe, who once was a musician who played with the Ohio Players, worked in an insurance business. At his place of employment, he was recently investigating a matter which implicated two of his co-workers in some wrongdoing of the company.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Anne Arundel County Cold Case Unit at 410-222-4731.

An up to $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) involved in the case.''

What type of insurance? Car insurance, chop shops, etc? Life insurance, bogus policies with real payouts?

I did a screenshot from the video. There’s more details in the news clipping I was able to snag.

Him and a partner were booking musical acts but that business dissolved the month before?? The partner can’t be found because he lived in a commune??

Funk musician's murder not forgotten
''Police don't know how Charles Crusoe ended up dead in a wooded area in Anne Arundel County not far from the Chesapeake Bay. He was from Washington and worked for United Life insurance company in Silver Spring. At one time, police said, Crusoe had played part-time with the Ohio Players, the popular funk and R&B band with two No. 1 hit songs: "Fire" and "Love Rollercoaster.

But the 29-year-old Crusoe had no ties to Anne Arundel County, at least none that police could find.''

"It's one thing to be shot in the woods, but to be tied up first, he obviously was transported there against his will. Someone may have wanted to teach him a lesson and it went too far."

''Two days after his body was found, the vehicle Crusoe has been driving -- a new brown 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a beige top -- was found abandoned in Los Angeles. The car, an Avis rental that Crusoe had used for about four months, was still in good shape''.

''Crusoe had dabbled part-time with the Ohio Players, who happened to be playing in D.C. around the time of his disappearance, Gajda said. Police do not have any information that he went to see the band.''
