Chattanooga Tennessee Area Murder

Hello All!
I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for information regarding a murder that happened in the Chattanooga/Soddy-Daisy/Sale Creek area many years ago. My parents bought a home in the mid 1980s where a murder had occurred. The murder would have taken place mostly likely in the late 1970s to mid 1980s give or take a little. The only details I have regarding the crime is that a son murdered his mother in a dispute. I have grown up hearing about the story and the home all of my life, but my parents do not remember many details about it anymore. I was just going to reach out and see if anyone on the forum may be from the area and remember this. I have attempted quite a bit of online research trying to find the case but I haven’t had any luck. Any suggestions on places to research or maybe any first hand knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

A larger library in Chattanooga perhaps, where they might have old newspapers on microfilm? Thing is, without a more specific date or even just the exact year, it would mean hours and hours going through that many. How about neighbors....if there are any still around who lived there when the murder took place? They might remember names or other details, or an approximate date at least to search on.

well you must have the address of the house since your parents bought it?
then you can search previous owners and voila, find the name of the woman

I do not have the address and my mother can’t recall it (she is elderly). They only lived there a very short time and moved because the murder was not disclosed to them at the time of purchase. Once they found out they were let out of the purchase due to non disclosure . This has been 35ish years ago at least and several years before I was born. I have only heard vague stories about them “buying a murder house” . I have just wondered about the story all of my life and hoped maybe on an off chance it would ring a bell to someone.

Coates, have you heard of "Tin Can Holler"? check on Amazon, there is a novel with that in the title. Crazy, crazy story of abuse, murder, even a serial killer I think! I believe there are ties of that family to the Tennessee towns you mention. The time period may be earlier though. Good luck!
