Chinese Baby Born With Two Heads

  • #21
I admire the two Hensel girls, however, China is not USA...
they may not have the same opportunities and chances as the Hensel girls.
I looked at that picture and almost cried...
they could have been my baby, or babies, regardless... but what do you do?? In China???

That was one of my first thoughts too. China is very different from the US. I couldn't even believe the parents went ahead and had the babies. I just hope the parents are loving and accepting and can raise them without problems from outside influences for the most part.

Adoption if the parents would let them go.

Not going to extra ordinary measures to save the babies is one thing. If it will put them through unnecessary pain and suffering and they wouldn't live anyway, I could see not doing something just to do it.

Killing them is another thing. You can't just kill babies because they are sick. That's disgusting. It's murder.

My youngest son, adopted, went through extraordinary measures to save him.
He was 1lb7oz,and over the 11 months in the NICU many would have said he would not have a good life.
We brought him home hooked up to a lot of tubes and machines. Those are now a thing of the past.
Today he is almost 10,healthy and loves life.He has medical issues that are followed, but haven't caused any problems in years.
He is developmentally disabled, but has fun every single day.At least twice a week someone will tell me he is the highlight of their day.
He is loved.

You are selling these girls short if you believe they can't have a good life. Not a perfect life, whatever that is,but a good life.
No one knows what this evening will bring, much less what tomorrow will bring.A car accident,a flood, the death of a loved one.
Medical advances are happening rapidly .
I am a proponent for palliative end of life care ,rather than aggressive intervention, but these little girls aren't dying.

This is not directed at anyone ,in particular. Just my experience and 2 cents.

I'm afraid you misread my post. Or at least I hope you did.

I said if they would not live anyway. Nowhere did I mention quality of life. It is not to us to decide quality of life. But it is up to us whether we put our children through unnecessary pain and treatments if we knew they would pass anyway.

I was simply pointing out the difference in not going to extreme life saving techniques if they were going to die anyway and infanticide, as has been talked about in the thread.

I was making a general point, not about these babies, just a general point.

I hope this clears this up. And glad your son is healthy and happy.
