Christie Brinkley splits with hubby #4

She might truly love him. Kathy Lee Gifford took her husband back after a widely publicized affair that he had. You just never know.

However, I am kind of with you on this. She most probably will not take him back.

I believe any love she had for him was killed stone dead by the revelations of the past week or so, but you may be right: stranger things have happened.

although some (me included) may feel he is a lying, worthless piece of scum work not fit to stand in the same room as decent people, one never knows what the one who might love him is willing to stand for.

notwithstanding the thought of how could the couple who were very much on the social circuit of 'The Hamptons' continue with such a lifestyle after his wretched behaviour?

both of which have this story appearing on their 'entertainment' sections.

now that is a bit extraordinary, to me - is it that fashion is entertainment or publicly shattered marriages?

I think that only Christie knows if the marriage can be saved. It will probably depend on a lot of factors, to include if this is an isolated case or a pattern. If this was an isolated case of adultery, much counseling would be needed to figure out why he committed adulty and why he did it with a teenager.

I personally don't think that it was for the sex. I think it was for the feeling of power and control that he felt. However, I'm not therapist.

Pretty good, for an amateur.

Probably most affairs that go on awhile are for more than the sex.

The thing is how did he think he could keep getting away with it? And he only apologizes after he got "caught" or exposed. Kind of like alot of "addicted" people, alcoholics included. They're always "sorry", but sooner or later end up doing it again.

He probably does need alot of counseling, or they do, but would it "fix" him? Don't know; he had an affair and proposed right before he proposed to Christie. A little odd.

Too bad the media is after him, but it was a "public" exposure, brought on by his own behavior.

I can't help but think this is SOOOO OVER! I think he could kick and scream and cry his way thru America for the next month, begging and pleading with her to take him back... but I don't think it will happen. There are too many details available for her to think about. Just the idea of that slimy SOB hiding money for a teenie all over the Hamptons makes my skin crawl. And the fact that Christie now knows that she was pretty much his 2nd choice when he asked her to marry him... after the 18 year old with the big that's also selling her story to the tabs. Now he says he's loved Christie since the minute he met her... ha! This man didn't just have an indiscretion... he has a year of chasing tail all over the Hamptons. He has a character flaw a bit too large to be fixed in a decent amount of time, IMO.

I think that Hillary Clinton stays married purely for political reasons and what Bill can do for her.

Peter, IMO, wants to stay married because Christie's image and power is much stronger than his. The more I think about it, the more I don't see Christie staying married.

As another poster said, she has to be enraged about the revelation that he asked another teen to marry him just before his engagement to her. Believe me, Christie is no second choice. She is so much better than either teen with whom Peter chose to cavort.

When Kathy Lee Gifford's husband Frank was exposed as a cheater, it was with a hooker in a hotel room. While not particularly what I would have wanted in my marriage, at least you could convince yourself that it was a "one time thing" and not a serious involvement.

Bill Clinton is apparently a sex addict, so again it's not about love but about sex. Again, I'm not saying I would want that in my marriage, but it's easier to overlook than some things.

Peter Cook carried on for a year with Bianchi, and he asked the other bimbo to marry him several times, and the last time was the month before he asked Christie to marry him. So she was clearly his first choice, and Christie was his second choice. I don't think you recover from such public swipes as that. Right now she's probably vascillating between rage, hurt, and confusion over how she could have missed any possible clues. She's feeling like a fool. None of those feelings bode well for a marriage. IMO, their marriage is over.

Theirs is a marriage of political strategy. Since he's gone as far as he can politically, she's going to go as far as she can and it wouldn't surprise me if they divorce in their old age.

Thanks everyone for refreshing my memory. What I distinctly remembered was the videotaping and being paid by a tabloid. I guess to me that equalled . Sorry to learn she was instead an airline stewardess! I also didn't remember Frank had seen her more than once. Oh well. No doubt Kathie Lee still throws it in his face from time to time!

Wow, here's a shocker... Alexa (Christie's oldest daughter, by Billy Joel) apparently didn't like Peter Cook.

Brinkley’s daughter, Alexa Joel, couldn’t care less if her mama kicks Cook to the curb, reports the New York Post.

“He’s been very mean and cold” to the 20-year-old, a source told the newspaper.
“It’s the main reason why she moved out when she was just 17.”

I thought Cook would have been half nuts over Alexa... she filled all of his requirements... trying to be a singer, a teenager. I guess she was too smart for him.

I bet he was cold to her because he was attracted to her but knew she was off limits so he had to keep a distance. I'm guessing a guy like him has difficulties dealing with young women in a nonsexual way. Ugh.

I read somewhere today that Christie is forbidden via their prenup to say anything bad about him publicly or it voids the prenup. Strange to include that requirement in a prenup, IMO. But that doesn't mean Alexa can't say bad things about him!

I think by floating a "story" that there is wording in a pre-nup that prevents Christie from talking about him, it would relieve her of the burden of having to make any statements about this whole flap. She can just smile sweetly and say "Sorry, but I can't talk about that".

Very smart of her. Of course she must be feeling humiliated, what wife wouldn't? I wish her the best. And think she ought to stop marrying - but hey, that's her choice.
