Singer-songwriter-keyboardist Christine McVie, who enjoyed a long tenure in the London-bred band Fleetwood Mac before becoming a key contributor to the group’s multi-platinum success of the late ‘70s, died Nov. 30 after a short illness. She was 79.

Her family released a statement, saying: “On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally. RIP Christine McVie.”

Christine McVie, the English musician whose smoky vocals and romantic lyrics helped catapult the rock group Fleetwood Mac to international success, died Wednesday, the band and her family announced on social media.

..."There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie," the group said in a statement posted on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. "She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure."

"She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her," the band added. "Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed."...

I was sad to hear this news today. She had a fantastic talent.

Has Stevie Nicks made a statement yet?

I was so shocked when I saw this news yesterday. It didn't seem possible that she was nearly the same age as my parents. RIP.

Yes, she and many others.
"Stevie Nicks has shared a moving handwritten note to her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, following news that the keyboardist has died aged 79 after a 'short illness.'

In the touching tribute, Nicks, 74, called McVie her 'best friend in the whole world since the first day of 1975."

I feel this thread won't be complete without one of her earlier songs, when Fleetwood Mac was well-known in the U.S. but before they became huge with Rumours:
RIP Christine.
(I saw them on their Tusk tour in 1979, I know they did Oh Daddy but I don't believe they did Songbird)

There is an ad currently running for Chevrolet EV's featuring Christine McVie's "EVERYWHERE"

It's such a lovely, happy song.

RIP lovely Christine. You gave us so much joy

And her voice sounds so eternally youthful. I have seen this commercial several times recently and it just didn't make sense in my head that the person singing that could be deceased!

So very sad to learn of her passing. She was so very talented. It seems we are losing so many of our rock stars, it is depressing. I guess we are all getting older. There will be one "hella of a band" in heaven, for sure. May she RIP. MOO. Katt

Sad to hear about the recent passing of CM. Though FM is probably best known for their '70's albums - those were released somewhat before I was into rock music (too young).

I first became a fan of FM in the late '80's, around the time "Tango in the Night" (1987) came out. Even though it's not their most iconic album, it's probably my favorite of theirs - given that I have nostalgic memories of hearing the singles as they were hitting FM radio ATT. Excellent choice of artwork on the cover as well.

Later, I went back & got their earlier albums. IMHO the double-album "Tusk" (1979) is probably their most underrated work. Fantastic music here.
