I use Chrome and tried this and the problem was immediately fixed.

Please understand I am not a technical person at all. That's why my directions for technical issues sound just like when I give directions to anyone who is lost. I don't use tech terms. I describe everything in easy to explain landmarks.

Here goes:

Type into your address bar: chrome://plugins

Then scroll until you see "Adobe Flash Player".

Make sure where it says "Adobe Flash Player" that the blue line underneath says, "Enable". This should grey out your box and disable your Adobe Flash Player. This is where the problem originates.

If the blue line below Adobe Flash says, "Disable" then click on the word Disable and "Enable" will appear.

The blue line below Adobe Flash must say "Enable".

Then close out the screen.

This took care of the whole issue for me.

This is an Adobe Flash issue and is happening everywhere.

Dave continues to work hard to see we are doing everything possible on our end to make sure the site runs smoothly and without interruption.

Thanks,
Tricia

Here is how my page looks. Not sure if yours will look the same.

This worked perfectly until yesterday.
I'm getting a message in a yellow box in upper left hand corner: " A plug-in (Shockwave Flash) isn't responding" along side of the pop-up is an option to "stop plug-in" in a smaller box within the larger yellow box. The site is not permitting me to send an email. I've been trying for 3 hours.

eta: Switched browser back to Microsoft Edge still having problems but not as bad, for now.

I usually run Chrome with the Adobe flash player disabled unless I need to view something requiring it. I have it disabled right now and just got the malicious redirect again.

The post above mine is describing a different issue. If you have Flash enabled, Chrome will regularly "bog down" and display the yellow bar along the page top saying that Flash isn't responding. To "wake it up", you have to stop the process and reload. That issue has occurred on here, but it isn't unique to Websleuths.

As I described in the other thread, the "redirect" issue literally compromises the entire screen. You are suddenly redirected to a foreign site, similar in appearance to this:

http://www.fastremovevirus.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/flash-player-pop-up-2.png

Almost immediately, the site tries to drop a file named "FlashPlayer.exe", which is malicious and immediately blocked by Chrome. If you click the back button, it shoots you back two pages, so you're not able to see the exact screen that you were just on (and therefore, you can't see which ad is spawning it). The next time it happens, I'll hopefully remember to grab the URL and take a screenshot before getting out of there.

We were notified that the problem has been taken care of BUT if you have any problems be sure and post about them here or email me at triciastruecrimeradio@gmail.com

THANK YOU.

I haven't gotten the redirect issue today, so I assume that is why. Thanks Tricia!

Here is what Dave told me he needs for the Flash Download issue:

For the fake flash download I need the following information:

1: EXACT time
2: IP addy
3: mobile or desktop/laptop
4: browser

the url of the site may come in handy if available.

The user should NOT post the IP address. Instead, the user MUST post the report from the same IP that the download was experienced on. This will allow the user to keep IP private while still allowing admins to identify the proper IP.

Since I last posted, I have not gotten this redirect on Websleuths again. However, several news sites that I frequent and/or are frequently linked to on Websleuths appear to be affected by the same thing. Definitely a good idea to keep malware blockers running. On Windows, Chrome will usually block the download, and if not, Microsoft Security Essentials immediately cleans it.

FWIW, the latest instance dropped a copy of the Trojan Win32/Dmat.A!cl:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Trojan:Win32/Dmat.A!cl

It was quarantined right away by MSE.

Oh I was soooo excited when I saw this thread! But unfortunately this fix turns off my Xfinity online tv service, which also runs on Flashplayer. Dang!

Is there a way to turn off autoplay on the video ads that appear on every page. There are 5 videos running, all the same tourist thing, and I have to scramble to manually turn each off before the page crashes. This is happening on every page. If I don't immediately turn off the videos, then the page will crash within 5 seconds. It's making it nearly impossible to read anything.

I've been having the same problem for the past few weeks.
