Are we sure the mother wants to sue and had children removed from her care in the past, because I can only find those claims as repeated rumors online ...
It's certainly all over the place; but I haven't yet seen it mentioned in MSM. I think if it is, you can post the article, can't you?
There is a Facebook page- when you type in Investigate it fills in her real name i.e. Investigate (her real name). Not sure if I'm allowed to state it here or not, but she has publicly outed herself and it's in news stories now. Her initials are MG. It's got another change.org petition to have CPS investigate her. Supposedlly she wants to sue the zoo now- the nerve of her!!!
I am beginning to see how the Salem Witch Trials occured. Public hysteria is alive and well in America. Please stop believing everything you read. There is zero proof that the mother was on facebook on her cell phone when this happened. The mother has not sued the zoo, so take a deep breath over that happening. If she does, it will take at least a year to file a lawsuit, and you will have zero interest in this story at that point. There is zero proof the mother had her children taken away for neglect. I am pretty sure you need a license to run a daycare, and she would not get one if she had neglect charges. Come on. Anyway, there will be a new villan in a week in America. Remember that dentist who killed Cecil the Lion? So my advice to the mother is...They will all move on in a few days. This is just temporary entertainment for people.
I'm calling it: The next "thing you just know is true" is that she tried to murder her son intentionally and dropped him in the gorilla exhibit.

Can someone point me to a report that gives more info about what happened? I will say that while there are many neglectful parents I once had an expericence with my nephew at the National Zoo (DC) where he almost got over a fence with the Flamingo's.

That has got to be the single worst public petition I have ever seen.
1. The petition is totally pointless, and has no legal bearing. Even if public officials were sympathetic to the petition, they would be left scratching their heads, trying to find a law that these people could be charged with breaking.
2. Its morally wrong to blame the victim or the victims family for an unfortunate incident like this.
3. Its counterproductive. The only thing the petition could possibly accomplish is to deflect blame away from the zoo, and empower them not to make the changes that will prevent this from happening again.

1. Putting up signs doesnt change the laws.
2. I have seen no reports that the mom allowed the child to enter the enclosure.
3. The exhibit will stay closed until it can be modified. The enclosure is obviously totally inadequate. If you look at the video I posted above, you can see that the railing is less then waste high even on very small children. I have visited a few zoos, and have never seen a railing that low. A tall person could almost trip over it and fall into the moat.
I was on a leash when I was little, over here they call them "baby reins" to make it sound less like animal equipment [emoji5]️
I found this tour on YouTube, shows how close the moat is but how thick the bushes are to get to it.
