A dead body does NOT smell like garbage.Garbage does NOT smell like a dead body.I do not remember garbage being listed as in the bag.Trash yes.Trash is not garbage. The guy had a garbage disposal.:banghead:

Ps. phone a Funeral Director or a garbage collector.Who better to know.

Thank you Nore for making that distinction. There was no garbage in that trunk. There was trash. And a pizza box, which is trash, but no pizza, which is garbage. But pizza dries out anyway, does not rot. But there was no pizza in the trunk, for 19 days or any other length of time. No garbage.

Nothing found in that trunk could make that horrific smell of decomposition.

To NTS: Please go back and look at the photos of what was found in the trunk, and list for us just what you think might have smelled of decomposition. Everything was laid out on the table. Just look at the photos and let us know, and then we can discuss the items specifically, rather than the generic, encompassing word "trash".

I respectfully disagree with your opinion here. I think she will indeed say it was the garbage. IMO Afterall, they found garbage, they did not find a body. IMO
Makes sense to me and it had to be a horrible horrible smell with magots all over it. IMO Ever smelled a real rotten egg? I ran the frying pan out back and threw it as far as I could, then threw up several times. It was very very bad. IMO And so yes, garbage can be unbearable. IMO

See to me, the fact that there was a kitchen garbage bag full in that trunk is strong evidence that the smell came from that bag. I can see it, so therefore it is likely that it is that. IMO

With further review of the trunk evidence, there is only trace evidence found and that trace evidence is questionable. IMO There is no body found, so I come to the conclusion that it is the garbage that smelled horrific. IMO

Also, with further review, it appears to me that only one coworker claims that Ca said it smelled like a dead body, the other coworkers did not. IMO It got legs as a story, but once the docs come out and we actually read them, Ca did not tell a bunch of other people about it. She allegedly told one. IMO

I can't wait to see these new depositions to see if anyone changed their story. thanks

But, NTS, there was not an egg in the trunk. Let's not put food items in the trunk that were not there. You can't compare a rotten egg to a trash bag full of empty cartons & boxes. IMO

I don't understand the point you are trying to make in reference to Ca's statement or lack of statement to the coworkers. You just can't push the statement Ca made to one coworker under the rug because she did not make that statement to all the employees in the building.

911 call + GA's statements.

But! and here's the big but, while yes a rotten egg smells really really bad. It smells bad enough to generate a strong physical reaction out of someone. It does in fact smell like a rotten egg. As you can personally attest a rotten egg smells unlike anything else. Once you smell it you instinctively know "That's a rotten egg". Apon encountering the oder you would tell co-workers " I smelled a rotten egg". The smell is clear unique, easily identifiable, almost hard wired into your brain, and will never be mistaken for something else.

Well human decomposition is that exact sort of uniqueness, just amped up by a factor of 100x. It doesn't smell like garbage. It doesn't smell like pizza. It does not even smell like rotting meat. As soon as it hits you your first most immediate and unarguable thought is "What died"?

And all of this is a completely moot point. Because there is so much overlapping independent evidence and testimony that lead back to the reasonable conclussion that the trunk smelled of decomposition, that a decomposition event occured in that car, that what CA specifically said to co-workers is trivial. It's hearsay at best, only useful to impeach her. Has no probative value against KC. And regardless any reasonable observer, such as a juror will come to the conclusion that yes the car smelled of a dead body, long before anyone would go anywhere near questioning the co-workers.

I am seriously doubting that the question of whether or not the car had a smell and whether or not that smell emulated from garbage or a dead body is going to rest solely on the testimony of Cindy Anthony. I think any testimony of hers regarding the 911 call and her excited utterance is only going to be similar to an afterthought.

I think she will lose the jury as soon as she makes her first nonsensical followup statement as to why she chose to utter the "body in the damn car" statement.

I suspect the prosecutors will rely on forensic evidence, expert testimony, and testimony from those familiar with dead bodies to prove the existence of a body in the trunk of that car.

Cindy's testimony will only give the jury a statement to weigh against all the other evidence in regards to this issue, and I suspect it will be glaringly obvious to the jury Cindy's story of "garbage smell" carry absolutely no credence.

ETA: I think it is only the DEFENSE who is putting so much emphasis (especially in press/blogs right now) on Cindy's statement as they have NOTHING ELSE to use to refute this decomposition smell...so spinning Cindy's statement through public opinion is strategy attempt....but don't think it will work...imo..of course..

Which begs the question....

Exactly HOW LONG does a rotten egg smell like a rotten egg after 31 days??? :waitasec:

Would rotten egg look and smell similar to rotten pizza after 31 days, cause a number of local radio stations can report that 31 day old pizza doesn't smell rotten?

  • #306
IMO, in the grand scheme of things it will not matter what Cindy says at the trial. The jurors will be ordinary people just like us and they will see Cindy for what she is. Her co-workers will be much more believable than she could ever be and they will telling the truth (hopefully).

It really doesn't. When in college, my son often stored left-overs in his microwave. While visiting with him, I opened his microwave to find a pizza that had been there for wks. The pizza was unrecognizable as it had what looked like a 3-inch layer of mold on the top of it. The pizza had a slight musty, moldy, odor, but, it did not have a rotten smell.

A rotten egg would not retain a strong odor after 31 days, IMO.

I had a high school chemistry teacher who enjoyed resetting vent fans to flood the entire wing with rotten-egg gas (I think it's H2S???). I've smelled many rotten eggs in my day for other reasons.

I have also had the unfortunate experience of smelling human decomp when my sister was cleaning a relative's house after he had been found deceased 1 month after his death. She would come home reaking of the odor. I only smelled it second-hand and it stays with me still.

As I typed about rotten egg gas, I could smell it in my head as well as human decomp. LOL! I actually have the same reaction when I smell cilantro and strong cleaners. It's all stored in my brain.

I've even spent hours at a dump in up-state New York watching the bears play. Dump odor is nowhere as unpleasant as human decomp.

NTS, there is no way on earth anyone could ever confuse the faint odor of long-gone pizza with human decomp, rotten egg gas, or the gasses produced by other animals.

Oh I agree! I'm not saying that it's all speculation, but I do think that the way some felt has to be taken with a grain of salt when it comes to evidence. For example the comments made about her believing Casey lies and what they thought about it, etc.

As for not leaving that day, I can see both sides to that. If she didn't think it was as serious as it was, then why would she just leave for the day? I know with some jobs you can't just leave and without knowing her history at work (maybe she called out a lot, or had a huge project, or her boss has been on her), she might have felt there was nothing she could do at the time and decided to just work. I'm sure if she knew how this was going to turn out, she wouldn't have gone back to work. I know my boss wouldn't just let some employees go home just because of an issue with the car. Again, JMO.
Forgot to add to my post, this wasn't just a car broken down-type issue, this was a car smelling like a dead body when her granddaughter had been "missing" for a month!!!

And again as I pointed out, a Home Health Agency is the kind of job you can just get up and leave. They often go out to patients homes and are NOT in the office. She was a Nurse Case Manager, she didn't have "projects".
Also wanted to point out that when you work for a Home Health Agency, you carry a pager when you are out of the office, should you be needed and are required to have it on...

There is NO evidence of maggots in the trunk. When questioned by the prosecutors Cindy admits she never saw them - that George told her they were there. When George is questioned he admits he NEVER saw them but says he "heard" them.

There was NEVER any pizza left in the trunk - simply an empty pizza box.

The Anthonys lie nonstop and seem to believe it will go unquestioned. When the trial starts, the lies will come out and if Cindy and George think for one moment that they will be able to react the way they did at the "Zanaida Gonzalez" deposition, they are in for an awakening. They are not going to be able to question the prosecutor when asked questions on the stand in any way, shape or form.

And to say that leftover pizza would leave an odor that a dead purging body would is absurd.

CINDY cannot admit that Casey did this becuase if she does, she will have to admit that she (Cindy) is to blame. Casey started stealing and lying in highschool per the family's own testimony. More than likely it was earlier than that.

Cindy let Casey walk out of the house for some two years saying she was working when Cindy knew it was untrue - so, Casey felt she could lie about anything and get away with it. She gave Cindy a fake deposit slip for $4,400 and Cindy said thank you. And when it comes to assigning blame, Ms. Lyon is going to put it squarely on Cindy's shoulders and George's.

The prosecutor asks George if it would be fair to say that Caylee was the center of the house and he said "absolutely". So when the prosecutor asked why he didnn't have a phone number for Zanaida - George said he left it up to Cindy and he believed that Casey was taking great care of Caylee and then he is going to be asked about the money that was stolen and the lies about working and how could he be sure that Caylee was okay if everything that Casey said was a lie. Cindy said she gave the detectives a number for Zanaida the evening of July 15th and when asked if she ever called it, she says no. THIS IS THE WOMAN WHO STOLE YOUR GRANDAUGHTER AND YOU HAVE A NUMBER FOR HER AND YOU DON'T CALL IT. RIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHT.

This family is bizarre and it is going to come out that Casey stayed out some five nights a week beginning 2008 at Ricardos and another lie by Cindy and George will be exposed. I am sure that Cindy let the lies go because she was basically being blackmailed by Casey who would say she would just leave with Caylee - so her lies were left unquestioned and now Caylee is dead.

And at trial, they will prove that Caylee was moved within two to three days of her death and they know this by the flies found in the trunk and that the purging was from her nose and mouth. The other more "horrific" purging had not started yet - but still there is a horrific odor.

A sociopath in action - they never think ahead, just the next ten minutes.

Cindy and George had the car in the house for 24 hours with that smell - she is a nurse and he is an ex sheriff; yet Cindy washed the clothese and sprayed fabreze. She also washed the knife found on the front see that more than likely Casey used to cut the tape that she put around the baby's mouth and nose. Cindy and that idiot lawyer of hers go on LKL and say that it is not true that the tape was around the mouth and nose when they KNOW it is an absolute lie.

Casey is not going to get the death penalty because Lyon will argue with a mother like this (Cindy) I am surprised it didn't happen sooner.

At one time I felt nothing but sympathy for Cindy and George and Lee and to a certain extent I still do. HOWEVER, the way they have tried to implicate friends of Casey's is unforgivable. They have called Amy and Ricardo and Tony heroin addicts. Lee says Jesse Grund "FLAT OUT LIED TO ME" about meeting Tony at a pool and YET Jesse Grund tells Eric Edwards that he met Tony at the pool and that Casey introducted them.

The family is not above anything to try and save Casey who killed their grandaughter. Its incredible.

Ha. It makes no sense because she did call the number IMO, and that's one of the reasons she was so freaked out.

On July 3 at 11:52 a.m., Cindy called a 321 number, which I speculate was an fake number given to her by Casey as "Zanny"'s number, because it was created by switching two sets of digits in a real number belonging to a friend of Casey. After calling this number (which was a real phone number of some guy who lived in Texas but had a 321 cell phone), Cindy must have realized it was not really "Zanny"'s number at all--either the Texas guy answered and said "wrong number" when she asked for Zanny, or she got a voice mail message with a male voice on it, etc. What does Cindy do after 11:52 am on July 3? She panics, spending the rest of the day trying to track down Casey, running out to Universal to "pick up Caylee", calling Fusian nightclub, calling Casey's friends, sending Lee out on a recon mission to Orlando hot spots, and finally writing her "My Caylee Is Missing" MySpace message when none of the above worked. This phone call seems to have triggered all the activity.

Then let's look at Cindy's phone activity on July 15, the day her universe collapsed. Cindy called 911 for the first time at 8:08 pm, then for the second time at 8:44 pm. Both times she was fairly calm and going on more about her "stolen" car than anything else. At 9:25 pm, she attempts to call the fake 321 number again. Why? IMO the conversation was going something like this, after Casey finally "admitted" that Zanny had taken Caylee:

Cindy: You gave me a fake number for Zanny! I tried it and it didn't work!

KC: MOM! Why don't you ever believe me?! That's Zanny's number! The guy who answered was obviously Zanny's boyfriend and he was lying to you because he knows Zanny stole Caylee! Sheesh! Don't you watch any soap operas??

So Cindy called the number again, presumably with the same results as the last time. Within 15 minutes of that call, she is calling 911 again, this time in absolute hysterics over Caylee having been kidnapped and the car smelling like a dead body. Then the cops show up and Cindy calls her boss from Gentiva and cries that she doesn't know what she will do if the baby's dead.

IMO, Casey's house of cards of lies came crashing down for Cindy at 9:25 pm on July 15, when she suddenly realized that Zanny did not exist.

Great post! To be honest with you, the only reason I can think of for their behavior is that A) they 100% believe Casey killed Caylee, and B) they truly do believe Casey could very well get the death penalty.

If CA had a telephone number, and address for ZFG you can bet that she would have been in her SUV driving like a maniac to pick Caylee up. There was no ZFG therefore there was no telephone number or address. CA had plenty of phone numbers for KC's friends, but did she ever call any of them to ask if they saw KC or Caylee...NO! KC called RP during the time she was gone from the house. Why didn't CA call RP and tell him she was worried that she hadn't seen KC or Caylee, after all both GA, and CA were very close to RP. CA knew where JG lived why didn't she go talk to him? There are too many doors that CA, and GA could have opened to help find KC, and Caylee. I believe the MySpace page that CA wrote to KC on July 3rd was brewing for quite sometime in CA's head before she wrote it. As CA, and GA stated they never were apart from Caylee for more than 24 hours, so if that is to be believed CA, and GA knew something was wrong on the 25th hour. I'm not buying any of their stories about KC, and Caylee taking a vacation together. Vacations cost money which KC did not have, and both CA, and GA knew it. There were so many flags flying it looked like the United Nations building.

AZ,

Going by the transcripts Cindy said she never bothered to call Zanaida because she had no reason to. My point is that she is a liar. I bet that every number Casey ever gave to her, Cindy called. And knew it was bogus. She was terrified that Casey would take Caylee for good. She did not think she would kill her. Talk about, "if only I had".
