He is obviously not out with friends (otherwise he would be driving them home, and would have been identified), and he is obviously not drinking because he's driving. What exactly was he doing ??

Exactly my sentiments billywhizz but keep in mind that also could have been his pickup line to make the girls feel 'safe'. Girls were trusting back in the very early 90s and Perth had an 'innocence' about it but that all changed after those dreadful years. I still get the creeps when I visit that area.

Karrakatta rapist was described as having brown collar length hair which makes me wonder, given he drove a panelvan, whether he was a surfer hence later descriptions in 96 and 97 were of a blonde man. Either sun bleached hair or dyed blonde or even wearing a wig.

I can't see Sarah, Jane or Ciara getting into a panelvan of their own volition either unless of course they knew this person or alternatively he had another vehicle for his 96 and 97 abductions/murders. The burning question is did he have an accomplice and was this accomplice a male or female. The police at the time put this thought of an accomplice into the public domain.

Where did the reference to 'telelcom man' come from? I have not read about this in any newspaper article that I have read or is this urban myth?

It's unconfirmed but there were rumours that a guy who worked for Telecom was offering girls in the area lifts. Apparently he had access to Telecom vehicles and this was never logged.

I didn't actually realize that this newspaper article dated 7 August 1996 (just 4 days after Jane's body was discovered) contained this information; missed in totally when I read it previously and I don't know how I missed such an important piece of information.

"Insp. Ferguson said there had been several items of clothing and a pair of shoes found. They were still being examined but did not appear to belong to Jane Rimmer (my bolding).

As another writer wrote tonight WTF. Who do these clothing items belong to? Didn't the Karrakatta rape victim flea naked to Hollywood Hospital. Could these clothing items belong to this rape victim? Have these items been tested or are they lost in the shambolic forensic storage facility adjacent to the airport?

Article attached. The above information is under the headline on right "Police clear Rimmer crime scene".

What really concerns me is that due to the water logging of the JR disposal site when her body was first located, the police abandoned the site and returned on 16 August. I do sincerely hope they had a 24 hour guard on that scene.

Thankyou for your ideas on putting links up. I'll shoot Bessie a message and see if anything can be organized. I find it extremely difficult trying to go back and read and find all the linked articles. I'm getting my newspaper articles in timeline order and thought I should post them somewhere where they may be useful and create some lateral thinkers to mull over and discuss. A lot of the articles have never appeared online previously. Here seems to be the right place to me as long as people remain sensible and are willing to appreciate efforts of everyone.

Looking at JR, where was she presumably attacked? Not in front of the Continental, but I walked through Google Street View and it seems like there were placed close by where she could have been blitzed.

My recollection is that normal sedan-type taxis were licensed to carry only 4 passengers; 1 in the front passenger seat, and 3 in the rear seat. During the 80s I know taxis used to let up to 5 or 6 people squeeze into a taxi but that was changed in the late 80s from memory (and experience).

Is this why Jane did not travel with her friends in their taxi on that fateful evening?

Debi Marshall wrote in her book that Jane used to take great care to ensure her friends were safe and at times was known to pay for her friends taxi fares, especially after Sarah Spiers' abduction to ensure her friends got home safely.

Conti shuts at 12 and in the footage you can see punters leaving. Behind Conti is a drive through bottle shop (owned by Conti) and then there used to be an underground car park. There were a set of stairs going down to it from the bottle shop premises and if you didn't go down the stairs and continued walking west along Gugeri there were windows/gaps from the footpath to about 80cm high that you could look down into the ca rpark through. Then if you keep walking there was an above ground car park. Most Conti punters parked in the above ground, some on the below ground. But at Midnight when Conto closes there would be people around. Getting in cars, pissing between cars (personal experience), waiting for their friends to make it so they could drive home.

Not exactly a safe place to pull off a blitz attack.

If JR headed east along Gugeri (she lives in that direction) then a mere 3 blocks down she is at Rowe Park.

I like your proposition there Sutton. If you look very closely at the CIA mystery man footage and don't concentrate on Jane (hard I know) you will see a person with dark trousers and white shirt walking back towards Gugeri Street after mystery man disappears from sight. To me this gives a distinct possiblity that he had parked his vehicle on Gugeri. I still consider MM is the highest on my list.

The person that everyone here refers to as Judoman in the mistaken belief that police were referring to Jane's friend who appeared at the beginning of the documentary when they (police) referred to the marshall arts expert etc. is totally incorrect.

The police officer said that the martial arts expert was from a wealthy english background. Check out the FB page for the other man people refer to on here and he attended Scarborough Senior High School. That is not a highschool you would choose to send your son to if you were a wealthy english family. I also believe his stature is totally wrong for him to be MM. He is too short. Lots of photos on his FB page and other places to make a comparison with MM's height. Jane Rimmer's height was 167cms.

Also look closely at the outline of the shirt sleeves that mystery man is wearing. I think he is wearing a t-shirt under his shirt; you can see the outline. Also his hair is quite messed up so this might show he was in a mental state or drug fueled or dressed himself iin preparation. He just doesn't appear to fit into the crowd to me; dressed totally different than patrons of the Continental Hotel as seen on the footage.

Let me know if you would like me to do screen snips of the video to show what I point out above.

It is without a doubt the worst pick up line I have ever heard.

It instantly puts images of a mentally handicapped person ala Martin Bryant into my head.

What could possibly be less seductive than a father in law who is a policeman and a grown man who would use that as a line to entice someone into a car? You'd think it would ring alarm bells the moment someone said that.

Yep sunbleached, or dyed. But how many surfers do you know who'd be stone cold sober and out late at night offering lifts?

A blitz attack doesn't necessarily occur in public as it would be far too risky. He would be smooth as silk and a real charmer until he got his 'girl' where he wanted her nice and 'safe' in his car. He wouldn't want to raise any of her awareness levels or anyone else nearby. The blitz would occur when she had let her guard down. FBI/CIA train their agents to be at their highest level of alert when getting into or out of vehicles. Most people let their guard down when getting in or out of vehicles.

I have wondered over this previously. In the Crime Investigation Australia episode she is shown walking with three friends. Only the three get into the taxi, so there should have been a spare seat (if reenactment was correct).

Rowe Park is adjacent to a railway line and to the Claremont subway which goes underneath the railway line to access the northern areas from there.

New Years Eve 1992/93 two girls were raped adjacent to Swanbourne Railway Station, the next stop (west) towards Fremantle from Claremont station. Girls had both been to Club Bayview


New Years Eve 1993/94 a girl was waiting at the stop sign at the Claremont subway (1st para above), was pulled from her vehicle and survived an attempted rape. Girl had been at Club Bayview

Then 12 February 1994 there is the Karrakatta rape victim abducted from the Rowe Park location which is very close to the Claremont subway (1st para). Girl had been to Club Bayview

31 October 1994 girl grabbed by man seated in back seat of taxi whilst traveling along Princess St Claremont. Was this girl seated in front passenger seat. It could have been the taxi driver was not aware of the man crouching in the back seat. Many taxi drivers used to exit their vehicles at taxi ranks to chat with their buddies whilst waiting for their next passengers so it may have been possible for this attacker to hide in the taxi without the driver's knowledge. Girl fled vehicle suffered broken ankle hospitalized for 1 month. Girl had been to Club Bayview

Sarah Spiers' abduction 27 January. Had been to Club Bayview

3 March 1996 girl sexually assaulted in Church Lane behind Club Bayview. Head bashed 6 times into wall. Skirt ripped off her.

9 June 1996 Jane Rimmer. Had been to Club Bayview did she enter premises. Employee stated to newspaper she was seen inside

14 or 15 March 1997 Ciara Glennon. Did she walk past Club Bayview?

I think there were more assaults/rapes between Jane and Ciara; possibly unreported.

There were an awful lot of sexual assaults occurring in the lead up to the 96 and 97 abductions and murders. What were police doing about these? Nothing it would seem.
