MISSING JUVENILE ALERT

The Clayton County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Amir Kelly.

On August 19, 2025, around 4:49 PM, officers responded to the 1500 block of Pine Drive, Atlanta, GA 30349, regarding a missing juvenile. It was reported that Amir did not get on the bus after school. He was later located near the 5000 block of River Station Boulevard and returned home, but has since left the residence again without permission.

Description:
• Name: Amir Kelly
• Black male, 4’5”, approx. 90 lbs
• Brown eyes, brown/black dreads
• Last seen wearing: black sweatshirt, black pants, black slides and/or black Jordan sneakers, and carrying a clear bookbag

Amir has no known medical conditions and is not on any medication.

Officials said Amir Kelly didn't get off the bus after school on Tuesday. Officers responded to Kelly's house just before 5 p.m. regarding a missing person.

Later Tuesday night, Kelly was located at a home on River Station Boulevard, according to police. Kelly went home, but then left the house again without permission.

Kelly was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, black slides and/or black Jordan sneakers, and carrying a clear backpack.

Why does Amir keep running away and why aren't they posting his age?

The photo angle distorts his height IMO. But he's of average build (not overweight) so at 90 pounds and 4 and a half feet tall he's likely about 10 1/2 years old. I also don't see the typical 5-6 year exhibiting this behavior of avoiding school, then being found in a home other than his own, then being returned home, then running off again. The behavior by itself isn't alarming to me, but it's not something I'd expect from a 5-6 year old.

I don't know if running away twice in the same day is super suspicious to me. If there was a pattern of running away over time, yes, but to me running away twice in the same day might just be a kid being upset about something, and then still being upset about it. Like if he knows he has to do extra chores at home as a punishment, he might just be trying to avoid them?

Hope they are right. I'm always concerned when a child his age runs away.

We see too much here at WS and I'm suspicious of some sort of abuse.

I too immediately noticed that his age was missing on the Missing information.

Mom is commenting in the FB post that he is home. (For the second time) The post is not updated to reflect that info, however.

Self reporting for mod eyes, please.

His Mom's FB shows some reassuring things---seems like a good supportive family. Mom and Dad and 5 kids. His oldest brother just graduated from HS last spring. Seems like a strong family.

But he seems to be the 'middle' child. I have that same childhood experience. You can feel lost, or overlooked. Unappreciated.

I hope they listen to him tonight---why is he rebelling and running off? I hope they help him process whatever it is. According to the FB, he should be just entering 5th grade. He has little sisters who are much younger. His big brother might be off to college now. Maybe he needs attention?
