It’s wild to me this guy chose to dress in all black in the summer and wait for a vulnerable family to attack…like he just got sick of waiting for his opportunity to hurt and abuse girls in the school system so…he figured he’d just go to the park and act on his impulses there? WTH.

Budding serial killer IMO.

I’m so angry and sad for those poor children. Their parents made the ultimate sacrifice because this scum bag was going to likely kidnap, SA and murder them.

I’m glad he’s off the streets and was apprehended quickly. I love hiking and can’t do it in FL (trust me, it’s not worth it lol) but whenever I used to hike in the DMV, who could be hiding in the woods was never far from my mind.

I expect more disturbing info about this man’s behavior and “hobbies” will come out soon.

What's with the hair?

The two booking photos have pretty different hair appearance. The one that seems first-released, where he is tilting his head has straighish hair with a central part, and his unruly locks jutting out here, there, and everywhere. It truly has the madman look to it.

This second one shows his unruly curly hair has at least been combed and he looks like he might have had a shower.

Does LE have to give him some grooming to as to not be accused of posting prejudicial images?
That first photo we saw would have been his drivers license photo (one with blue background).

Unless I’ve missed another photo, this is his only booking photo.

IMO, it really didn't matter if he was out in public since he knew he didn't resemble the sketch much and the only photo was of his back side. The description of the car was probably off and generic enough that he knew they couldn't catch him on that alone either... and the photo is way too blurry.

Not many people would turn someone in as a tip that looked like him.

My guess is the police followed the car thru road cameras and businesses and located what town he lived in and maybe even the apartment building he was living in.

LE probably surveilled him and waited to arrest him when he was in a vulnerable position and unarmed.. getting his hair cut.
Plus, he just moved to the area in July. Not many people would likely recognize him from behind or even from the front!

In my state right now, we are seeing what seems like at least an arrest a month of teachers for possession of "you-know-what" on their computers. One was even using his students faces and "creating" it using A I. Disgusting. Something has changed recently and they are really going after them. One of the more recent ones had received a prestigious award recently. Another had been let go when allegations were made, but not reported to police! Instead of reporting him, the superintendent gave him a job referral and he was a CPS worker when arrested! These creeps are attracted to jobs with easy access to children.

Oh @Quill, I believe you and yet am in disbelief and in shock!

What the actual heck is this?????

One of my friends who taught in a nearby high school had a colleague who was removed from teaching, pending the teachers’ union fighting for his reinstatement.

Here is why he was removed—-he taught 12th grade. A girl in the front row had multiple facial piercings and he called her a “porcupine” in class.

She took offense, reported him and he was removed and sent somewhere to bide his time with full pay. I don’t know if he ever returned to teaching.

So I am reeling that in your state, teachers can be accessing what you’re implying on their computers, and that he ended up at CPS where he’s supposed to protect children! Using A.I. to plant a minor’s face on we-know-what is CRIMINAL!

I know every state is different but there should be, IMO, much more rigorous policies when teachers abuse their roles this way. Across the board, in every state.

Sierra Marcum said three years ago, her son was a student in McGann's fourth grade classroom in Donald Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas, and described him as the "most standoff teacher" she had ever met. Her son's yearbook includes a photo of McGann.

"Pretty cold. You could ask him a question and he would give you a one word response," she said. "Overall just pretty disinterested in his students."

Marcum told CBS News that, over the course of the school year, her son reported inappropriate behavior by McGann toward the girls in his class. It included being "very touchy with the girls and having them on his lap and making comments to them and keeping them back from recess."

Words fail me. 🤬 🤮
Well not really .... but you know what kind of things we could be saying about how this pervy perp should be treated by the justice system.

How sad for those parents who have had kids in his classroom !!!!!!
If reports were made to the school admin. by students and/or parents, they should've been listened to !

And now two innocent people are dead. A mom and a dad.
Also think he was wearing that large backpack duffle bag to abduct a little one !
Omo.

Really? The family did too. What a eerie coincidence.

Probably stupid question. Why did they do that, a second picture?
Ha, I've never seen that before.

Maybe his hair was dampened for the cut and when it went back to its natural state (curly) they wanted a picture of that? Perhaps tips of perp having curly hair so using it as evidentiary value?

Honestly no clue, kind of weird.

There are two mugshots, both with his barber's smock on. Ignore the light blue background picture from earlier (the license photo). Anyways, between his two mugshots, his hair is completely different. Can't say I've seen anything like that before and am wondering why or what in the world was going on.

i'd also like to hear about him from past coworkers, teaching assistants, etc.

Those are not barber smocks. Washington County uses them all the time for various reasons. Look through the other mugshots and you'll see others wearing them.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

It could cause some people to lose their jobs if school admins were told by parents that an incident took place, and the school admin did not do anything about it but fail to renew his contract!
Someone should have kicked off an investigation.
It is nearly impossible to sue a public school district, superintendent, principal, or teacher, but it can be done. And if he worked at a private school- all bets are off…lawsuits all over the place.

I think parents will connect with each other, rally, and talk to their kids, and find out things they may have missed. That is exactly what I would do.
A child who is a victim can have issues for years, or a lifetime- and it could be that no one connected it to some event with their teacher. Now they may be able to get help.

As I’m not thinking a 28 year old guy wakes up one day and says…
“Hey I think I’ll go to the park and abuct a little girl in this duffle bag. And threaten them with this knife if they don’t come with me.”

A pedo typically has a history, likely going back to his teen days.
He may have photo equipment in his apartment- he may have an online presence.
There is no telling what creepy things that could be found on his computer and social media.

I think a rock has been turned over and this creep crawled out… and he may have creep friends online.
IMO

I was wondering this, too! What about family? It will be interesting to learn more about his background. Will he be the guy that people say nice things about and say "I never would have guessed"? I doubt it. Will they speak up about his past interactions or will they be silent?
He moved around so much in the past few years, I am thinking he doesn't have a set of friends. I'm thinking former co-workers aren't going to say anything public (unless they are no longer teachers), but maybe college friends or neighbors.

There are two booking photos with the black smock on.

In the first he looks truly disheveled, and like he came straight from an interrupted barber visit.

The newest just released has him looking like his earlier DMV and FB photos with the curly mop of hair on top.

Just somewhat random thoughts.

I am not 100% sold that this was an attempted child kidnapping. I agree that it is a plausible scenario but there are so many questions.

Why choose a summer, weekend day in a park well populated with people?
Why choose a family of four? Certainly, common sense says that one person is unlikely to successfully control four people regardless of the demographic.
Why select the trail as a location for the abduction? Even if he was able to take out the parents and grab the child, he had to have a plan to get the victim back to the car. This would mean down the trail to the parking area past other park goers and, possibly, the visitors center( unless the plan was to carry her off into the woods). However, in order for this to be a capital murder I believe that it would have to be tied to another crime i.e. kidnapping, robbery, drug dealing etc.

I think that drug dealing is unlikely.

I suppose robbery could have been a motive but also unlikely as who carries excess cash with them when hiking? He sees a couple with two kids and thinks they will be compliant and not fight back. The situation goes terribly wrong?

Other possibilities:

This was just the random act of a guy who had suffered a mental break. He was looking for anyone that fit a loose ( and perhaps illogical) set of criteria with LE assuming that kidnapping was part of the motive and charged accordingly.
Spinning at age 28 due to a history of rejection and bursting of sexual frustration. Just like Kohberger.

Those prior OK and TX schools will have a lot to answer for.

I speculate the curly hair mugshot is right when they got him to the Arkansas State Police HQ. The 2nd one he's already in the jail uniform so likely at Wash Co Jail and appears to have had a shower and lost his curls. You can see the black and grey shirt underneath the smock. The camera quality is noticeably different too. Or maybe I have ti backwards ands his hair is naturally curly and curled up after a shower? Either way, I think one was at the ASP HQ and the other was at the Wash Co Jail.

-- Why are we not protecting our children yet, again?

"While our investigation did not find any evidence of inappropriate behavior with a student, we did find his classroom management and professional judgment to be below our district's expectations," the email said.
I think we are protecting children.

In the end, as the investigation implied, there is a difference between articulable evidence of sexual abuse and more vague / subjective "creepy behavior".

In this case, the investigators found only creepy vibes / red flag behavior that would apparently not support criminal charges. They then terminated him based on discretion.

Anecdotally, we had a similar case in our Middle School. Teacher seemed promising, was charismatic (well, in his own quirky way), and in a school needing male role models, had competed as a professional athlete in the minor leagues.

But.... the guy also had a, well.... stated interest in female puberty body changes, told off color jokes, shared locker room stories with boys and affirmed sexual promiscuity.

Anyways, he eventually raised enough yellow flags, or maybe even a red flag, that he was terminated for creepy vibes via "Sorry, contract cannot be renewed- bye, bye". But.... there was likely no reporting as he was a "creepy vibes" only type guy with no evidence of criminal activity.
