I wonder if the Brink's actually took a picture or video of him on one their phones before or during the attack and police had a clear image of him. If he grabbed their phone before he fled and took it, that could have easily helped to track him even if he ditched it at some point.

That's a good observation. And if the parents were seen filming him on their phone or informed him of it, that may have led to the murderous attack.

I've wondered that too. I can envision the father confronting the creep while the mom took photo/video.

I don't know if that happened, but I wouldn't be surprised.

If you look at the database his licenses were in green (or blue, I'm going off memory). But there was a note that all licenses in there color are reciprocity licenses. Arkansas and Oklahoma have some reciprocity for teacher licensure, meaning teachers certified in one state may be able to obtain a license in the other without having to repeat all requirements. So the Oct 2024 date was probably when he got his Oklahoma license. JMO

Yes I think that is right, Arkansas and Oklahoma have agreements with teacher licenses, a person wouldn’t have to take another test to get licensed as their certification requirements are similar.

His first certification OK would require a background check, likely just to get into the teacher ed program his junior year in university. No contact with kids before a background check.
Some states require fingerprint background checks- Texas, Florida, Illinois.
If his fingerprints were already on file in Texas that may have helped.

No reciprocity in Texas- he would have to take tests in Texas unless he gets exempted.
Those would tests are a general test with educational theory, psychology, and education law, and various subject area tests.

Whoa. I just started reading the posts here, didn’t know much about it earlier and wow, I’m amazed they’ve caught the culprit already.

Thank God. I saw the photo you guys posted earlier, the one from behind, and I assumed it would take forever to identify and locate him.

It is so disheartening to me that he was a teacher. I taught in the same school in NYC for over 25 years. You absolutely have to be fingerprinted before you are hired, and you have a few years in which you must get your Master’s degree.

A person like this, who constantly changes his name, his location and his place of employment would be Red Flag Central.

In NYC where we have a very strong teachers’ union, there is a history of principals who “pass the trash.” If they can’t fire a tenured teacher, they’ll try to ship them to another school. That’s unfortunate, since they should not be teaching at all.

It’s entirely possible that this maniac indeed was drawn to teaching for nefarious purposes, and perhaps why he kept fleeing to other schools and other states. I’m not sure if any of his states required a Master’s as is mandatory in NY, but that would also strike me as someone who couldn’t cut it academically.

In all my years of teaching, there was one man who turned out to be a pedophile. There was proof and he was fired and arrested, but at least he did not kill parents.

These brave parents and these bereft children! I can’t take it.

In my state right now, we are seeing what seems like at least an arrest a month of teachers for possession of "you-know-what" on their computers. One was even using his students faces and "creating" it using A I. Disgusting. Something has changed recently and they are really going after them. One of the more recent ones had received a prestigious award recently. Another had been let go when allegations were made, but not reported to police! Instead of reporting him, the superintendent gave him a job referral and he was a CPS worker when arrested! These creeps are attracted to jobs with easy access to children.

This guy in Ark. couldn't wait for school to start I guess, so he went hunting for someone's child. People used to seem to make it their job to debunk the stories on SM of people stalking them and their children in public places. It's time to start believing them. This couple lost their lives and their children are forever traumatized. I hope they throw the book at him and then some. JMO.

Getting the haircut also must have indicated that he didn't think anyone was looking for him, even with the vehicle outside. Baffling.

Has it been alleged or suggested by LE that the accused is a pedo or was attempting to snatch or harm the couple's daughters or is that just speculation based on him being an elementary teacher? IMO, it really didn't matter if he was out in public since he knew he didn't resemble the sketch much and the only photo was of his back side. The description of the car was probably off and generic enough that he knew they couldn't catch him on that alone either... and the photo is way too blurry.

Not many people would turn someone in as a tip that looked like him.

My guess is the police followed the car thru road cameras and businesses and located what town he lived in and maybe even the apartment building he was living in.

LE probably surveilled him and waited to arrest him when he was in a vulnerable position and unarmed.. getting his hair cut.

Really brazen of this guy to not even conceal his identity and to do this in broad daylight. Do we know how long the family had been in the State Park, were they camping or just doing a day hike? If his purpose was to snatch a young girl this doesn't seem like the way to do it especially since he was a school teacher. I'm just imagining the opportunities he had while teaching and what else he was doing. All JMO

With the cameras that are out there today, it is very hard for a suspect to be seen/videotaped or their car.. Arrest rates have gone up with the advent of cameras.
