Will look at how long he planned this. That will be part of the investigation.

He was injured and resulted in blood loss. His blood provided DNA that was then matched to the suspect.

Items seen in the photo of him from the trail were found in his house.

He was cooperative with LE.

Husband attacked first. Mother did not return all the way to the car with the kids. Mother took them to safety and returned to help her husband.

Not commenting on what the suspect has said to LE.

State not waiving death penalty. Jury will decide.

Expected to plead not guilty at his first court appearance.

Omg, the mother took the kids back to the car to safety, and then went back to help husband? That explains it for me because I couldn't fathom how two children got out of those trails on their own other than by an angel. jmo

Edit: Press conference revealed that the mother did not get the children back to the car, she got them away from the scene.
The mother got the children halfway back to the car.
A hiker found the children and got them back to safety.

Lived in TX and OK. Recently moved to the area. Was a teacher, though not in Arkansas (my note: yet).

Expect other jurisdictions will reach out to Arkansas to see if other cases are connected to him. But they are unaware of any now.

He indicated he committed the murders. LE labels it "an admission."

No criminal history.

No indication he was going to flee. He lives in Springdale and made no attempts to conceal his car.

Found him through good old-fashioned police work. All hands on deck. Included technology as most investigation do.

Aware of initial issues with tips line. Had around-the-clock team filtering the tips and prioritizing them.

Nothing about this case is conventional. Very heinous. Random crime.

Every agent's worst nightmare. Victimology to narrow down suspect pool wasn't of use as it was random.

No, they said in the presser the mother did not get the kids back to the car. Just got them away from the scene.

Social media did nothing to help investigation. It absolutely hindered the investigation.

It also hurt the victims' family.

Let LE do their job. Give tips to LE not social media.

He did use tape to conceal identity of his vehicle.

Don't know if he committed anything else, but they are exploring that.

Like BK, I would want to know if there is some organic disease underlying his behavior, because there sure seems to be a plague of lethally psychotic people out there who have a veneer of function but end up going very far beyond norms, and really pose terrifying hazards to people. I would want to try to know if we can ever identify a cause and correct this stuff in any way.

You might want to check out this new textbook, The New Evil by Dr. Michael Stone and Dr. Gary Brucato. My copy arrives tomorrow. An OP on another thread suggested it when I shared something similar to your post here.

ET: snip Herat's post for focus.
