I wonder if AJM blames parents of students for reporting his behavior at past teaching jobs where, as a consequence, he was not invited back to teach. And if he does blame parents for impacting his job prospects, perhaps he went out on the trails that day with the intention of taking his revenge out on other parents of elementary school-aged children.

Police: McGann admitted to killing the couple, DNA match found at the scene

Andrew James McGann admitted to police that he killed Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, on a hiking trail at Devil's Den, Col. Mike Hagar with the Arkansas State Police said Thursday.

The girls found their way to another hiker, who got the girls off the trail, then hiked to find the girls' parents. When the hiker found the two bodies, they hiked back off the trail to get cell service and called the police.

One witness told police they had seen a person come off the trail with what looked like blood on his face.

He seemed to have a cut on the bridge of his nose in the mugshot. Hopefully the blood on his face was his own, and one of the Brinks smacking him in the face is what left his DNA at the scene.

The comments on the FB news site KNWA & Fox24 announcing his arrest make me furious. Coming from other families he taught in his past states — as other people have posted here already. Interested to see what the rest of this investigation reveals. I just listened to that podcast yesterday and realized I’ve never heard witnesses speak publicly like this in the past — probably because LE would have told/advised them not to due to an investigation? And the top line being down was the motivation for witnesses to speak up elsewhere? I did find it unusual. Incredibly glad this perp was caught and justice can be served.

It could well be, deep insecurity being covered up. And just not able to disguise his antisocial tendencies for long.

I wonder whether, if uncaught, he'd have done it again.

The mere existence of serial killers proves that violent fantasies are not always satisfied by just one crime. They want to do it again - as long as they believe they won't get caught.

You'd be surprised to learn unless you get a court order and approval from a judge, if someone has a SEALED record from when they were a minor or sponged it from their record, a school wouldn't know anything criminal about a person. I guarantee you he has a criminal record, we'll just have to wait for the FBI who are consulting and helping the local police in Arkansas, what they pull up about on this.

They stated no criminal record iirc.

Expunged cases will still show up on fingerprinting lives scan as far as im aware, but not more common background checks.

Hehe.. But they probably followed his car by highway cameras and business/private so probably know where he went and neighborhood/apartment. . so actual vehicle would not much have mattered in my humble opinion

Once they had a description and video and got tips on cars with covered up license plates from citizens... they worked the data and found him.

This is what I've been thinking. You don't need to be "tough" to murder unsuspecting people with a knife. A complete coward can (and they frequently do) kill with a knife.

AM carries himself like someone who is quite timid and insecure. But on the other hand, that could also be an act to make himself appear less intimidating.

This guy is a confusing one.

I would think there's public defenders with that specialty. The ones who have been working the longest, either having started out there and moved up, or seasoned lawyers who have joined the PD office.

Didn't get into trouble with the law. The only red flags we know at this point are the job hopping, which could mean absolutely nothing, and comments from people that he was cold to parents at his school.

The victims also could be any of us. Nice couple with kids, moved to a new state for a job, went out an outdoor activity with family on a summer afternoon. They did absolutely nothing to draw violence to themselves.

Everyone seems normal. Except a "normal" guy who looks scary on the trail and kills two random people and then sticks around the area living his ordinary life.

It really is unlike any other case I can recall. Maybe Kohberger, but even with BK, it wasn't too hard to find a troubled past. Perps even in random crimes usually fall into a pattern....that I think we are searching for here.

I keep waiting for more to drop, but maybe nothing will. IDK.

Actually, one case is similar - Delphi. There was nothing to indicate Bridge Guy to be a troubled person who would murder two teens on a trail on a random afternoon, but he did. The only "red flag" was maybe a drinking issue. He drove home and continued his regular life too, after a double murder. Ordinary guy who killed ordinary strangers in an ordinary setting on an ordinary day.

In the Delphi case, I kept thinking something big was going to drop to explain the crime. But, nope. Didn't happen.

IMO he gives the impression of someone who is trying to hide, making themselves as "small" and unnoticeable as possible. That might be understandable for someone who has just committed two gruesome murders, but to me he already gave that same impression in the earlier photos.

I feel like he's almost used to hiding in plain sight, which would explain a lot about his behaviour post-murders.

The hair theories are cracking me up. My natural hair texture ranges from very wavy/slightly curly when air dried, but when I blow dry it, it's almost straight albeit frizzy... which is why curly haired people are better off with a wide tooth comb and a diffuser as opposed to a brush and regular blow dryer

He probably washed and blow-dried his hair before going to the salon (as one does - dirty hair + clippers are not good).

Assuming he had a shower in the jail before his second mugshot and his hair had air dried.

Also doubt the hair clippings from the salon floor would be collected and used for much. They would want hair with a root and plucked straight from the body and into a sterile evidence baggie, not collected off a floor where strands *could* be argued to have come from literally anyone else. He criticized the messaging, not the investigation. He is a local resident, other local residents who were at the park called him. They shared tips with him because the TipLine didn’t work, it wasn’t fixed until Tuesday.

Did people calling him tip off the suspect? No, he was driving the same car in the city where he lived and went to get a haircut. He didn’t run.

The critics in the community were upset about the lack of communication, and calling him. It was the community, not just a PodCaster. He is a local, he lives there.

IMO
