I wonder if the backpack is a hydration backpack?

Agreeing with others that the duffel bag looks mostly empty (worn cross-body across his back), looks like a jacket or pullover tied around his waist, and that the shoes look possibly like water shoes of some kind.

His hair looks pretty clean cut (except it's hard to see the hairline because of the scarf or gaiter around his neck).

Also, that outfit/gear looks hot/heavy considering hiking in Arkansas midday this past week was likely very hot.

MOO.

I originally thought a pullover around his waist as well, but the stripes on the right side are nearly identical to the stripes on the left of the duffel. Makes me think it’s either a massive duffel, or he has two.

Yes, and even if the bag wouldn't work for a child abduction, we can't assume we're dealing with a rational person. He might have THOUGHT it would work.

I can't shake the idea the girls were the "target." Not those girls specifically, but in general. speculation

Even if the little girls weren't his target, it's easy to imagine that the parents, if they had any time to process/react, feared exactly that. Mama and Papa bears. Seems like they drew fatal injuries in order to give the girls a chance to get away. I can't fathom the terror --

Such little girls. Too, too young to learn how cruel the world can be.

Yeah, I had noticed that too. I still think the left side of the photo might look like a jacket or similar tied around the waist.

While he does have it cross-body on a long strap, that would be a huge duffel as it looks like it would go from about his shoulder blades almost to his knees.

MOO.

The duffel-type bag looks to me to be dark blue. The stripes on the side are distinctive. There is a silver or white patch on one side I would presume is a logo. The entire top panel of the bag looks like it is mesh to me. The straps are peculiar and would be uncomfortable if the bag was full and heavy. I think the zip is on the top around the mesh. It looks like a cheap bag that has been modified.

I seems like a bag used for wet or damp things. Such as a cheap gym bag. I've seen some snorkel or dive bags that have a mesh panel like that. It seems too large and basic to hold climbing ropes and the straps make no sense for a climbers bag.

  • Dark clothing, dark pants and long sleeve shirt
Given that the presumed perpetrator seems to have covered his vehicle registration plates with tape, I wonder if the long sleeve shirt and trousers (as opposed to shorts) were chosen to cover up distinctive tattoos.

I think there is a triangular logo on the right sleeve, mid upper arm.

Is he standing at an edge? Looks like it drops off. Did he turn away from the hiker/photographer to shield his face? Or was he... let me out this delicately... responding to a call from nature? Otherwise, why was he stopped? What was he doing?
I believe he's hiding his face. I liked the suggestion the image is from a go-pro attached to, eg the helmet of a cyclist riding by. So the walker stepped off the trail to make room, but turned his back rather than saying hi. Cyclist turned his head to look at the man as he passed him

Reposting. Cant help myself. Someone knows who this person is.

This is the person of interest in the murder of two parents in Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas.

No wonder he drew so much attention from those who saw him at the park.

What kind of pack is that?!! Does he have a scarf on or is that part of the backpack? Is that a long jacket, or a sweatshirt? This dude is seriously overdressed for the location and weather!!

Did someone mention gaiters yet? I look at the shoes and they look waterproof and it also looks like he is wearing gaiters, like he came through a stream or was expecting to exit through a stream.

I found a type of bag called a Mil-Tech Carry Hold-all Kit Duffle Bag that is that same shape but the only link for it is incredible suspect/restricted
edit n/m reverse image search shows WillLand as a normal brand for rolltop backpack of this shape so fairly common

edit: sorry I should mention when you look at the increased lighting in photo you can see the stripes on the bag go lower than a regular Duffle bag

If the long sleeves were chosen to hide tattoos, maybe that black thing around his neck is also to hide a small neck or chest tattoo, also.

That backpack is very odd.

The bag is quite small, not the usual student backpack.

It reminds me a lot of a binocular harness that hunters or birdwatchers wear, where the bag is worn on the front for easy access to the contents.

The small bag reminds me of camelbak backpacks / bags.

Maybe he was involved in some other kind of trafficking other than children.
He could have been there to pick up a prearranged drop of drugs or something which is why he had an empty duffle/backpack thing.
If the Brinks stumbled upon the drop about the time he showed up, he may have killed them for that. He then puts the drop in his bag and leaves.
Also would explain the taped over license plate.
Just another thought.

If the girls were locked in the car and/or ran ahead to get help, I wonder what the initial encounter was. Did the suspect approach them pretending to need help or otherwise give them weird vibes and the parents knew to get the kids way quickly (i.e. "go wait in the car and lock the door we'll be right there") or did he approach and start attacking without saying anything? JMO

Investigators say the suspect in the deaths likely sustained an injury while attacking the couple.
I hope he did, the disgusting filth

YES! I was thinking the same thing.

I thought that too, but does not look to have the watertube though.

I think the same. IMO the target were the girls.
Family reported they died as heroes, defending their girls.

I wonder if the girls were walking a little way ahead, and he started talking to them not realising their parents were right there?
