I listened to the 911 call, which was confusing - as it contained multiple other 911 calls. From one of the calls, it appeared that a witness (passerby), brought the children to the visitor center, while she directed another person to help the victims. Very sad. This just makes me think that the Police have a lot of information which they have not released.
So, perhaps it was the person sent to help that police heard screaming for help. That makes more sense.
At first I thought targeted, however, I hike a lot in North New Jersey where we have a lot of bears. I can sadly say, that I feel people are far more of a threat, even out in the woods, than any form of wildlife. So, someone planning to attack, stalking the woods looking for a viable target to happen along is certainly possible and seemingly more likely in this instance. It would not be the first time this has happened.

The attacker's posture looks like a person who has shrimp back from gaming / computer programming / being sedentary most of the time hunched over in a chair.

I know this sounds nuts but am I really that crazy in assuming the picture of the perp circulating from behind is actually taken post-murder? The duffel is empty and the folks who were interviewed who saw him earlier in the day had said that his bags were weighted down with heavy items.

To say the photo was after the murders implies he was calm, stood watching, clean, and not trying to get out of the park.
The couple that saw him before 1:30 said he was walking with head down, with a mission, not taking in the scenery.

So, I’m thinking this photo was before the attack- when he was watching people on the trail lower to the trail he was on. Possibly looking for victims?

The exit of that car from the park is also described as a car speeding with loud exhaust, a lady says she was almost hit by the car.

I think he was in a hurry

IMO

Yes, that is what I see. Someone who does not sit ergonomically correct and has a lot of screen time.

Which could mean someone who is a loner- doesn’t get out and about a lot.
Also- would be consistent with a person who uses and collects inappropriate content with kids.

I could be biased as I think he is a child perv

IMO

Your logic definitely makes sense if we're assuming the killer was how we would be in that situation. You are probably right but I just can't make sense of why he has that huge duffel bag that's apparently empty when it was implied that earlier his bags were full? Probably nothing but just an observation

Some early thoughts -

1. The Attacker 100 pc came ready to commit a crime , given the choice of attire, attitude presented (strange behavior noted by other walkers on the trail) , gloves on a hot day (when walking a trail, not climbing etc.) , and most importantly the taped over license plate. Ruling out spur of the moment rage , or random confrontation leading to rage.
2. Drug pick up /drop would be closer to dusk not middle of day ??, not so close to visitor center, also if the man was there to pick up or drop off something why would he be seen frequenting that trail for a whole hour or more , as seen by witnesses as early as 1.30 pm . He was walking around and up and down, scouting for a victim
3. I believe he was there to take a child, a national park makes sense from that perspective - people these days are getting far more cautious re letting kids play outside on the street, local parks without any parental supervision , ditto walking back/forth school. He gambled on the fact that families with multiple kids, let them run ahead (try and stop a kid from doing that :(, I spent the first ten years of my kids life trying to run after him, till he got too fast and I too slow).
4. So lets say he got there on the gamble that he could take a kid, he would not want to injure or kill the kid so maybe he planned on gagging the kid , or sedating it (I don't know is that possible only in movies the whole chloroform over the mouth thing we see on screen) and putting the child in the duffel bag, not too far from his car for a quick getaway in the few minutes a child might be missed.
5. Cudnt find a younger child so went for the 7 year old. It went wrong and I do believe the parents took fatal blows to give the kids enough time to get to the parking lot and beyond, maybe trying to hold down the perp or something forcing his hand on them to the finish, I truly hope he was injured.

If this was not the random scenario above, and someone they knew / a personal killing than I have a feeling (as theorised here already) that it might be someone in the oldest child's sphere as she was the one not there that day. But again they would then pick a day where none of the kids were there ?

Just getting here and don't have time to read back through the thread, but I'd be interested to know if Cristin and David were day hiking or if they were camping. Anyone know ?

Yes the young guy said the bag was hanging like it had some weight in it.

I don’t know- if I’m thinking this may be an attempted at a child abduction then it makes me imagine the bag ready and not full.

This guy needs to be caught- many of us have family in or near that area who have children.
We are on day 5!

News Nation- Interview with US Marshal Manhunt Expert

How hard would it have been to catch this guy with as many witnesses to him and his car in the park? If locals could have now?
There were not a lot of places he could go after leaving the park, and then hide himself looking like that, and a car that is recognizable?

Frustrated

trying to put ourselves in his mindset - would he choose a Nat park that was in his state , neighboring states or across the country ?

would he hire the car to make the chain longer to find him ?

might he have scouted the park in the weeks or days preceding to figure out CCTV blind spots ?

Does the park need a ticket purchased to enter or is entrance free ?

No entrance fees. They request you register @ visitors center if backpacking overnight on the butterfly trail.

Odd, the things you notice on first impression...

I see a feminine posture/stance, as if this were a young woman pausing at a trailside verge to check her phone and view the scenery.

How big is that long-sleeved T, 4X? It's so, so long.

Incredibly thankful this photo was located and released.
Yes! I know it doesn't make sense and it probably isn't, but all I see is a woman when I look at this person. Weird. I didn't want to post it at the risk of sounding nutty, but it won't get out of my brain. So glad I'm not the only one and someone said it, lol.

I don’t think he came from far away. Possibly over state lines from Oklahoma or Missouri, but I’m guessing he lived between 30 minutes and two hours from the park.

I’m not sure why but I don’t get a super small town vibe from him either, I’d guess he’s from one of the bigger towns in the area. Ft Smith, Fayetteville, etc.

I’m sure he had a general familiarity with the park. He probably scouted it shortly beforehand, but not necessarily if he’d been there a number of times in the not-too-distant past.

Just my thoughts for now.

Are there known child trafficking rings in the state/neighbouring state ? wasnt there one recently busted in another southern state ? Could this be linked to that?

If the perp is a nerd, he might be reading these pages. I wonder if he anticipated the chase after him and if he's enjoying the attention/notoriety.

Someone knows this person.
Who is this person?
Why dress like this to go hiking?

On Saturday, Jul. 26, Clinton and Cristen Brink were fatally attacked at the park while hiking with their two daughters. The children were unharmed and are now safe with their families.

If I put myself in his mindset I keep landing on child abduction
Clothing and gear are not expensive
Probably did scope out the territory- maybe online- but doesn’t look like a seasoned hiker in summer in Arkansas in the humid forest

NOW? He has had four days. What would he do?
Took off- drove as far away as he could go if he would not be missed
Dumped clothing, weapon, hiding or dumped car
Changed hair color, or cut it short, shaved face
Then when Monday came- went back to work? If he has a job? Or to parents basement?

Or he wasn’t driving that car, it was some young kid being a young kid, and this perp is in the national forest?

Someone has to recognize that drawing and photo
Someone has to recognize that car

Why have they not come forward? Maybe lives in the basement with a parent who is older and they don’t watch the news? Maybe parent saw it and they’ve been silenced?
Maybe he is not from Arkansas so locals would not recognize him as he lives two or three hours away.

Beyond frustrated
Hoping for a press conference today, Governor Huckabee should be feeling uncomfortable about now as this case has gotten national publicity.

I am just surprised that he did not collapse in that 105 degree heat, in layers of dark clothing and despite there being alleged witnesses, he had the energy to get away.
Some drugs have the ability to make one feel super human and immune to discomfort. Perhaps he was 'chemically compromised'?
